Kathleen Lynch: I propose to take Questions Nos. 509 and 519 together. The processing of approvals for financial support under the Nursing Homes Support Scheme was suspended for a month from May to June while an examination of funding was being carried out. However, the HSE has been issuing funding approvals again since the 13th June. Almost 1,700 people have been allocated funding since that date. The HSE...

Kathleen Lynch: HSE services for people with eating disorders are embedded in the Community Mental Health Service and with Primary Care. - Hospital Services (21 Sep 2011)
Kathleen Lynch: I agree with the Deputy on the issue of psychiatric services. To discontinue a service without informing the people who rely on it is not right and should not happen. I hope it will not happen under the new regime we are trying to establish. The days when psychiatric services were part and parcel of the overall Vote and budget for acute hospitals are coming to an end. I hope we will be...
- Hospital Services (21 Sep 2011)
Kathleen Lynch: The frustration is very obvious. The movement of the organisation to a board type structure and the running of different community-based units and smaller hospitals may ensure budgets are adhered to and priorities are dealt with at that level. However, shortage of staff in one area and an excess in others will not be dealt with by boards. That is clearly a matter which must be managed...

- Seanad: Reporting of Lobbying in Criminal Legal Cases Bill 2011: Second Stage (21 Sep 2011)
Kathleen Lynch: I reply as someone who has had some little experience of this issue. Like Senator Crown, my speech will use slightly exaggerated language, but we will balance each other out.
