Paul Coghlan: Mr. David Cooney, the Secretary General of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has been appointed as our ambassador to the Vatican and one could not have a more able diplomatic representative.

Paul Coghlan: We could have a non-resident ambassador there quickly and allow Mr. Cooney to work his superb diplomatic skills because when he meets the Secretary of State to the Vatican, I am sure the Vatican will agree to allow the person we appoint as a non-resident ambassador to occupy the same space in the Villa Spada as our ambassador to Italy.
