Section 230 of the 1990 Act has been omitted from the Bill but should be included. The section relates to the duty of the Stock Exchange in respect of unlawful purchases.

Seán Sherlock: I propose to amend section 1042 to provide that the summary approval procedure can only be used to permit financial assistance by a plc, where that procedure was authorised or where the resolution passed under section 60 of the 1963 Act was passed by the plc before - and that is the key word - it re-registered as a plc.
