Joan Burton: It is the eve of May Day and tomorrow workers around the world will be celebrating the fact that many of them are free to join a trade union and enjoy conditions of employment which are fair. However, in this country we have a growing band of workers who are being paid well below the minimum wage, whether on land or on ships going to and from Ireland.
