Other Questions: Garda Stations (11 Feb 2015)

Simon Harris: The Office of Public Works' disposal policy with regard to non-operational or vacant Garda stations is first to identify if the property is required or suitable for alternate State use by both Departments or the wider public sector. If there is no other State use identified for a property, the OPW will then consider disposing of it on the open market, if and when conditions prevail, to...

Other Questions: Garda Stations (11 Feb 2015)

Simon Harris: The proceeds from the sale of these former Garda stations went into general Exchequer funds. However, we have made a number available to community groups. There are not any problems with regard to titles of which I am aware but I will forward a note to the Deputy on that matter. I will also send him further details on the guardianship situation. Vote 13 - Office of Public Works (Revised)
(11 Feb 2015)

Simon Harris: That is correct. There is a great deal of work going on in that regard and I am aware that the select sub-committee discussed the matter in detail. On the issue of maintenance budgets, a problem does not arise. As I believe I stated in my opening remarks, since 2013 the maintenance budget has been transferred to the OPW. That is an important point.

Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform: Select Sub-Committee on Public Expenditure and Reform: Estimates for Public Services 2015
Vote 13 - Office of Public Works (Revised)
(11 Feb 2015)

Simon Harris: I am extremely happy to try to debunk the myth about State art. Frankly, matters in this regard have become silly. There is no view within the OPW that anybody went off with a load of paintings in the back of his or her car. Let us be very clear on that point. However, there are lessons that need to be learned about the inventory of State art. We have adopted the necessary procedures....
