Enda Kenny: It worked out.
- Ceisteanna - Questions: Dáil Reform (22 Feb 2017)
Enda Kenny: No, I will not. These things work both ways. A lot of legislation has gone through in Private Members' time and that is now backed up, so obviously parties will have to make a decision on what priorities they want taken through. I am genuinely anxious that this commission would get under way to start to implement the Manning report. I have another name that has come through as well, and I...
- Ceisteanna - Questions: Dáil Reform (22 Feb 2017)
Enda Kenny: When we had the old health board system, while it had its faults and failings, at least we were able to get answers and Deputies could talk to whoever the official was, although they were not called directors of services then. Public representatives-----
- Ceisteanna - Questions: Dáil Reform (22 Feb 2017)
Enda Kenny: Yes. Nonetheless, at board meetings the issues were always raised by public representatives and they would get a response. I do not understand why the parents of that person mentioned by Deputy Adams could not be given all of the facts and information on all of the opportunities to provide care for that person. There was a system whereby the HSE would come to the audiovisual room in...

- Ceisteanna - Questions: Dáil Reform (22 Feb 2017)
Enda Kenny: The benefit can be seen in some towns. In Westport, for example, one had different groupings on the town council but they always looked in the same direction for developments. Signs around the town-----

Enda Kenny: -----as Deputy Martin well knows, became the Frank Hall story and could not get agreement on anything.
- Ceisteanna - Questions: Dáil Reform (22 Feb 2017)
Enda Kenny: We need to look at the outcome of what has transpired since they were abolished in terms of representation of people. I know it took some time for people in towns to understand that they did not go to an office to deal with their town council business but rather had to deal with municipal authorities in terms of their functions. Deputy Howlin has raised the issue. There is nothing wrong...
- Ceisteanna - Questions: Dáil Reform (22 Feb 2017)
Enda Kenny: -----populist Ireland at the time in terms of the scale and size of political bureaucracy, questions about what they were doing and so on. The Deputy has every right to say we should seriously examine this issue and build a consensus. We will get a paper first and see what is the general response.

The draft agenda, published by the General Secretariat of the Council, envisages that the Maltese Presidency will provide an overview of progress on the implementation of earlier European Council conclusions, and that the European Council will then look at a number of the most pressing issues, including in relation...
- Leaders' Questions (28 Feb 2017)
Enda Kenny: I too welcome our visitors from across the water here today to the Dáil. I hope they enjoy their visit. They may have issues to talk about in respect of Brexit and other matters. I assure Deputy Micheál Martin that there will be an opportunity to pay tribute to our late colleague, Peter Mathews. I extend our deepest sympathy to his wife Susan and family. He was always a...
- Leaders' Questions (28 Feb 2017)
Enda Kenny: A total of 81% of passengers who travel on Bus Éireann travel on a PSO-subsidised route and that subsidy has increased. Rural transport throughout Ireland is increasing and there is an increase in the subvention every year. The problem here, as the Deputy is well aware, is that the Expressway service is losing €50,000 per day. That needs to be addressed. Who can address that?...
- Leaders' Questions (28 Feb 2017)

- Leaders' Questions (28 Feb 2017)
Enda Kenny: The drivers and those who service Bus Éireann throughout the rest of the country carry 81% of the passengers who travel on Bus Éireann and they do so in a professional, diligent and competent fashion. The nub of the issue needs to be addressed and the WRC stands ready to accommodate both sides to see can we avoid a major strike next week which nobody wants.
- Leaders' Questions (28 Feb 2017)
Enda Kenny: First, the least this House can do is apologise to Grace and her family. Her treatment is a disgrace to us, as a country.
