- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Current Financial Situation at Bus Éireann, the Expressway Service and the Rural Transport Programme (25 Jan 2017)
Imelda Munster: I just want to ask two more questions very quickly. The delegates said they have not identified what routes will be cut. That seems a bit strange seeing that they have identified what needs to be done with the workers. It raises the question as to whether management is keeping the information hidden until it is too late to do anything. I want answers to all my questions but my main...

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Current Financial Situation at Bus Éireann, the Expressway Service and the Rural Transport Programme (25 Jan 2017)
Imelda Munster: I had a specific question about an equivalent 30% cut.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Current Financial Situation at Bus Éireann, the Expressway Service and the Rural Transport Programme (25 Jan 2017)
Imelda Munster: Will Mr. Hernan be taking a reduction of anywhere between 25% and 30% in his take-home salary?
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Current Financial Situation at Bus Éireann, the Expressway Service and the Rural Transport Programme (25 Jan 2017)
Imelda Munster: So, to date, no.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Current Financial Situation at Bus Éireann, the Expressway Service and the Rural Transport Programme (25 Jan 2017)
Imelda Munster: So, thus far, the answer is, "No". I had another question. If Mr. Hernan does not mind us asking, what is the salary of the CEO?
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Current Financial Situation at Bus Éireann, the Expressway Service and the Rural Transport Programme (25 Jan 2017)
Imelda Munster: Mr. Hernan is not prepared to give details of the recent severance packages. Would he consider putting those details in the public domain?
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Current Financial Situation at Bus Éireann, the Expressway Service and the Rural Transport Programme (25 Jan 2017)
Imelda Munster: I have requested the terms of reference of the HR consultants that were hired and the overall cost involved. It is fair enough if Mr. Hernan does not have those details to hand, but will he put those details as well as the figures in the public domain?
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Current Financial Situation at Bus Éireann, the Expressway Service and the Rural Transport Programme (25 Jan 2017)
Imelda Munster: Perhaps it is something that could be taken up with the Minister. I had also asked about what services would be cut but Mr. Hernan stated that such services have not been identified. Surely he has identified some services. It is not a case of not knowing which are loss making and which are not. Surely they have been identified.

Imelda Munster: If I could respond to that reply, I will then get to my final question. Mr. Hernan stated that he does not want to cause unnecessary concern, but he issued a press release recently stating that 2,600 jobs could be at risk. What about those bus workers and their families who have mortgages to pay? Mr. Hernan did not seem to be too worried about causing them stress or concern. To put it...

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Current Financial Situation at Bus Éireann, the Expressway Service and the Rural Transport Programme (25 Jan 2017)
Imelda Munster: This is my final and most important question: Will Mr. Hernan commit here today to engage without any preconditions to having a third party negotiator who can chair negotiations? He knows what lies ahead by bulldozing ahead. In the interests of protecting and preserving the workers and the public transport network and services, will he agree to having third party intervention and to engage...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Current Financial Situation at Bus Éireann, the Expressway Service and the Rural Transport Programme (25 Jan 2017)
Imelda Munster: They do and that is where the stalemate lies. Will Mr. Hernan give a commitment to third party intervention without preconditions with the stakeholders to avoid the chaos that lies ahead?
