Written Answers — Department of Health: Health Products Regulatory Authority (31 Jan 2017)

Gino Kenny: 607. To ask the Minister for Health when the HPRA report on the regulation of cannabis for medicinal use will be made available to Dáil Éireann; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4658/17]

Priority Questions: Health Services Funding (1 Feb 2017)

Gino Kenny: 30. To ask the Minister for Health if, in view of the record number of acutely ill persons waiting on trolleys in emergency departments in January 2017 and the threat of strike action by nurses due to unsafe staffing levels, he will allocate emergency funding of €1.2 billion to urgently address the deficits in hospital beds, medical staffing and primary care services in the health...

Priority Questions: Health Services Funding (1 Feb 2017)

Gino Kenny: I ask the Minister for Health whether, given the record number of acutely ill people who are waiting on trolleys in emergency departments in January this year and the threat of strike action by nurses due to unsafe staffing levels, he will allocate emergency funding of €1.2 million to address this problem urgently.

Priority Questions: Health Services Funding (1 Feb 2017)

Gino Kenny: This is not a perennial problem; it runs much deeper than the yearly crisis that is generated. I want to differentiate between the political and the personal, because that is important. I am sure the Minister and everybody else in the House does not want to see anybody on a trolley, but it happens. At one stage this year, 600 people were on trolleys. They are ordinary people who paid...

Priority Questions: Health Services Funding (1 Feb 2017)

Gino Kenny: I hope next year and the year after the Minister will be able to say there are no patients waiting on trolleys. The situation is very serious. Let us get down to the facts. This problem is also the fault of Fianna Fáil. Some 1,600 beds have been taken out of the Irish health service over the past nine years. Of course that would result in a crisis. Worse than that is the morale...

Topical Issue Debate: Architectural Heritage (1 Feb 2017)

Gino Kenny: Deputy Burton has robbed all my lines. I would be interested in the Minister of State's view on the sale of Luggala estate. I probably go to Wicklow once a week. The backdrop with that road coming into Luggala estate is probably the most scenic and picturesque place not just in Wicklow, but in Ireland. Thousands of people use the amenity each year. There would be great value to owning...

Topical Issue Debate: Architectural Heritage (1 Feb 2017)

Gino Kenny: The Minister of State's reply was quite positive. He said the Department could also consider acquiring the property if the price fell within a range. If the price reduced, would the State be interested in buying the house? It would be even better if it was donated to the State. Is the Minister of State saying that if the price reduced dramatically, the State would engage with the owner?

Questions on Promised Legislation (8 Feb 2017)

Gino Kenny: I raised this issue last week with the Taoiseach but he did not get back to me so I will raise it again. It relates to the Health Products Regulatory Authority, HPRA, policy review of medicinal cannabis. I spoke to the Minister for Health, Deputy Harris, who said he would try to make it public this week. It is of the utmost importance that this review be made public as soon as possible....

Hospital Waiting Lists: Statements (9 Feb 2017)

Gino Kenny: Last week, I raised the crisis regarding hospital trolleys and the health service with the Minister. I want to differentiate between the personal and political. Sometimes we have to do that in this game. This is not a perennial problem. Rather, it is a systematic problem with our health service. Unfortunately, our health service is quite sick. The reason for this is neglect. The reason...

Written Answers — Department of Justice and Equality: Language Schools (9 Feb 2017)

Gino Kenny: 49. To ask the Minister for Justice and Equality the top ten English language schools by numbers of students registered by GNIB, in tabular form; the nationalities and numbers of students registered in each school; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [6478/17]

Written Answers — Department of Health: Mental Health Services Staff (9 Feb 2017)

Gino Kenny: 182. To ask the Minister for Health the number of consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist posts here which are filled by doctors on the Medical Council specialist register for child and adolescent psychiatry; the number filled by doctors not on the register and which are vacant, by community healthcare organisation, CHO, area and year for the past ten years; and if he will make a...

Order of Business (14 Feb 2017)

Gino Kenny: I propose to raise an issue I have raised many times in recent weeks and comment on the report of the Health Products Regulatory Authority, HPRA, published last Friday. The HPRA report is flawed and does not go nearly far enough. Will the Taoiseach indicate when the Bill we introduced on 1 December 2016 will come before the Select Committee on Health? It should be taken within 12 weeks. ...

Written Answers — Department of Children and Youth Affairs: Child Poverty (14 Feb 2017)

Gino Kenny: 80. To ask the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs if she will establish an urgent interdepartmental task force to address the escalating national crisis of child poverty in view of the fact that, according to the most recent SILC report 2015, a child is now more than four times more likely to live in poverty based on their family status; and if she will make a statement on the matter....

Written Answers — Department of Health: Narcolepsy Issues (14 Feb 2017)

Gino Kenny: 441. To ask the Minister for Health the status of the plan to fund the establishment of a national service for narcolepsy in St. James's Hospital; if he will expedite this plan to avoid further delay; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6993/17]

Written Answers — Department of Health: Hospital Beds Data (14 Feb 2017)

Gino Kenny: 451. To ask the Minister for Health the acute hospital bed numbers in the health service, broken down by inpatient and day patient beds, area and employer over the past ten years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7068/17]

Written Answers — Department of Health: Hospital Staff Data (14 Feb 2017)

Written Answers — Department of Health: Ambulance Service (14 Feb 2017)

Gino Kenny: 453. To ask the Minister for Health the ambulance response times for emergency call outs, by area, for the past ten years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7070/17]

Other Questions: Poverty Data (21 Feb 2017)

Gino Kenny: 33. To ask the Minister for Social Protection if he will report on the findings of the survey on income and living conditions, SILC, report; if he will make changes to the one-parent family payment as a result of this; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8441/17]

Other Questions: Poverty Data (21 Feb 2017)

Gino Kenny: Will the Minister for Social Protection report on the findings of the SILC report and make changes to the one-parent family payment as a result of those findings?

Other Questions: Poverty Data (21 Feb 2017)

Gino Kenny: I have raised this issue numerous times with the Minister and I do not think he is for turning. The finding of the EU SILC report is quite explicit. One parent households in Ireland have suffered immeasurably. Two points in particular are damning for this country and previous Governments. In 2008 consistent poverty for lone parents was 17.8%. In 2015, that shot up to 26.2%. The latter...
