- Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (30 Mar 2023)
Paul McAuliffe: This is one of the first modular builds. It was built in the space of a month on site. My instinct would be to call-----

Paul McAuliffe: It was at the time.
- Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (30 Mar 2023)
Paul McAuliffe: Yes. I think at the time the principal was quoted in the newspaper remarking on how quickly it had been built in the space of a few weeks. The Dublin Inquirer had a very good article about it in 2017. In some sense, the City of Dublin Education and Training Board is not the victim, but it is certainly not the cause. I am reluctant to bring its representatives before the committee to be the...
- Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (30 Mar 2023)
Paul McAuliffe: My understanding is it is the City of Dublin Education and Training Board at this point. I may be wrong. It would be beneficial to do that and to get a briefing on the state of the building. That does not interfere with the legal strategy, if I understand what the Comptroller and Auditor General is saying correctly.
- Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (30 Mar 2023)
Paul McAuliffe: I do not have that figure.
- Public Accounts Committee: Business of Committee (30 Mar 2023)
Paul McAuliffe: It is the best place to start
- Post-European Council Meeting: Statements (18 Apr 2023)
Paul McAuliffe: It is amazing how much recent statements on European Council meetings have been dominated by the war in Ukraine. It shows how there has been such a significant shift and the impact that war has had. The key issues with respect to the inflation crisis and the war are increased interest rates from the ECB and a very significant increase in fuel costs. Both those issues are having a real...
- Ceisteanna ar Pholasaí nó ar Reachtaíocht - Questions on Policy or Legislation (20 Apr 2023)
Paul McAuliffe: This morning, I received a briefing from the students of St. Michael's school in Finglas, who were unsure I would be able to put their points across, so they join me in the Gallery to ensure I do. They wish me to speak about the Luas in Finglas. They have done great research in the community about how needed it is. They made a number of points. They often feel young people's views are not...

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government: Housing for All: Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage (18 Apr 2023)
Paul McAuliffe: I thank Ms Timmons, Mr. Ó Coighligh and Ms Stapleton. When witnesses come before us, we often struggle to find their names on the page in front of us when we are welcoming them. Unfortunately, we know the names all of those before us inside out and they know ours. I thank them for being with us today. I will continue with the issues raised by Deputy Ó Broin. The first 18 months...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government: Housing for All: Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage (18 Apr 2023)
Paul McAuliffe: There is three years of a construction period for that after the Part 8 was passed.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government: Housing for All: Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage (18 Apr 2023)
Paul McAuliffe: I know we are under time pressure and perhaps, when my next slot comes around in 20 minutes, we can answer some of those. That Novas site is an example of something not functioning. There was to be six three-bedroom houses to try to stop antisocial behaviour and two years later, following two planning applications, nothing has been built.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government: Housing for All: Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage (18 Apr 2023)
Paul McAuliffe: But that will be the third planning application even though there is a live planning application right there, right now, for six three-bedroom homes. Can it just not be approved and built?
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government: Housing for All: Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage (18 Apr 2023)

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government: Housing for All: Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage (18 Apr 2023)
Paul McAuliffe: I did not cover about 15 sites. I apologise to Ms Stapleton who is working her way through the list.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government: Housing for All: Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage (18 Apr 2023)
Paul McAuliffe: I imagine there is nobody more frustrated with delivery than the witnesses. I accept that. As a Deputy who came to this House to vote for things to change in housing, it is frustrating, having put in place the policy and budgeting, to see that delivery is not proceeding as quickly as it could. Ms Timmons may tell me differently but it seems that on some of the affordable and social sites...

Paul McAuliffe: Is Kildonan Road in the same position?
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government: Housing for All: Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage (18 Apr 2023)
Paul McAuliffe: The problem there is that the construction cost for affordable purchase will result in a home more expensive than the market value home. That is obviously a challenge.
