Seanad: Seanad Reform: Motion (15 Jun 2011)

Paul Coghlan: Like other colleagues, I welcome the Minister of State to the House. I thank him for his forbearance in listening to this and look forward to hearing his contribution. Seanad: Proposed Legislation (15 Jun 2011)

Paul Coghlan: I join the Cathaoirleach and Senator Tom Sheahan in welcoming the Minister whom I thank him for the glad tidings of which I know him to be the bearer. As the Cathaoirleach is aware, this is not the first time I have spoken in the Chamber on this matter. I did so many times during the previous Seanad. I agree with what Senator Norris said about the Minister, who is doing great work. The Senator mentioned some of what is being done. I do not think there is a busier Minister in this Government.

Paul Coghlan: The Minister, Deputy Deenihan, is out there actively every day. I am sure they all are. We should single out Deputy Deenihan on this day in particular.

Seanad: Order of Business (21 Jun 2011)

Paul Coghlan: With respect, Senator Daly is being deliberately provocative on the issue of NAMA. It is outlandish to claim that the Taoiseach agreed with him. Under no circumstances did that happen. He expressed the hope, publicly, that the type of situation alleged by Senator Daly could not happen and that NAMA was on top of the situation and would ensure it could not happen. A public assurance was...

Seanad: Order of Business (21 Jun 2011)

Paul Coghlan: I know that but I wish the Leader to confirm that it is the duty, as Senator Daly is aware, under law that NAMA must do due diligence on all acquirers and that it is precluded by law from selling in trust.
