- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Justice, Defence and Equality: General Scheme of Children and Family Relationships Bill 2014: Discussion (9 Apr 2014)
Pádraig Mac Lochlainn: I have a question for the Children's Rights Alliance and Barnardos. Although we are supposed to be a secular State and we are supposed to be legislators, such legislation is often subject to ideological assessments. Although Joseph was not the biological father of Jesus Christ he did a pretty good job of rearing him. One of the earlier presenters said structural issues regarding the family...

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Public Service Oversight and Petitions: Decisions on Public Petitions Received (9 Apr 2014)
Pádraig Mac Lochlainn: The joint committee has had an opportunity to adjudicate on the three petitions before it today. We will discuss the decisions we have made. The...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Public Service Oversight and Petitions: Decisions on Public Petitions Received (9 Apr 2014)
Pádraig Mac Lochlainn: Is that agreed? Agreed. The second petition is No. 8/14 from Mr. Desmond FitzGerald concerning access to Leinster House for a member of the public. What we have agreed after the process of deliberation is that we would...

- Commission of Investigation (Certain Matters relative to An Garda Síochána and other persons) Order 2014: Motion (15 Apr 2014)
Pádraig Mac Lochlainn: It has been a very disturbing period in terms of the whole area of the administration of justice. Public confidence has been fundamentally undermined by the incompetence the Government has shown in overseeing all the episodes that have emerged. The Taoiseach and Tánaiste will be aware that Garda sergeants and inspectors, who are gathering as we speak for their conference, have said...

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Public Service Oversight and Petitions: Design of Ballot Papers: Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government (16 Apr 2014)
Pádraig Mac Lochlainn: There is feedback from the Referendum Commission and research to the effect that 55% of people were confused and 13% wrongly voted "Yes" and 6% wrongly voted "No". That is serious. Has anyone thought about coming up with a proposition at departmental level? Have the departmental officials thought about making changes and making proposals to the Minister internally?
