- Joint Committee on Tourism, Culture, Arts, Sport And Media: Registration of Short-Term Tourist Letting Bill 2022: Discussion (Resumed) (1 Mar 2023)
Aindrias Moynihan: I thank the witnesses for their presentations. I had a chance to listen in on some of it and read over documents as well. I will try not to go back over too much old ground. The rent pressure zones, RPZs, in particular are large and are almost like a blunt instrument approach. There is such variety across the RPZ, from the edge of Cork city in Ovens right out to Gougane Barra which is in...
- Joint Committee on Tourism, Culture, Arts, Sport And Media: Registration of Short-Term Tourist Letting Bill 2022: Discussion (Resumed) (1 Mar 2023)
Aindrias Moynihan: The same question applies to the other witnesses. Have they a recommendation on how they would deal with the issue of the RPZs? There is obviously a demand or huge pressure for housing in some areas. How would they approach the RPZs? If people are going to be pushed away from short-term letting, would they find going towards the long-term market attractive? What would make it attractive...

Aindrias Moynihan: Tá brú ann i gcomhair tithíochta agus tá céimeanna anseo chun rudaí a bhrú ar aghaidh. Teastaíonn uainn treoir a fháil ar cad í an tslí is fearr tríd. Gabhaim buíochas as an deis.

- Joint Committee on the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Irish Speaking Community: Páipéar T2 Ghaeilge na Sraithe Sóisearaí: Coimisiún na Scrúduithe Stáit (1 Mar 2023)
Aindrias Moynihan: An raibh an coimisiún ábalta gach ábhar a réiteach ag an tráth sin? An raibh gach éinne ar aon aigne mar gheall ar an leagan amach agus an caighdeán a bheadh ar fáil? Táim ag caint faoi na páirtithe éagsúla nuair a bhí an coimisiún críochnaithe leis an bpáipéar samplach.
- Select Committee on the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Irish Speaking Community: Meastacháin le haghaidh Seirbhísí Poiblí 2023
Vóta 33 - An Ghaeltacht (Athbhreithnithe) (1 Mar 2023) Aindrias Moynihan: Táimid ag tnúth leis an bhFeidhmeannas ag filleadh ach, ar an ábhar céanna, níor caitheadh an t-airgead a bhí curtha ar leataobh idir an dá linn. An bhfuil sé i gceist ag an Roinn an t-airgead sin a chaitheamh nuair a thosóidh an Feidhmeannas arís nó an féidir é a dhéanamh?

- Committee on Budgetary Oversight: Report of the Commission on Taxation and Welfare: Discussion (Resumed) (8 Mar 2023)
Aindrias Moynihan: I thank the witnesses for their submissions and their answers. I was listening in earlier. I will focus on two brief points. In moving towards a low-carbon economy the commission is recommending the phasing out of fossil fuel subsidies. I am aware that the commission is looking at various options and alternatives there. This will put phenomenal pressure on people in some areas. I am...
- Committee on Budgetary Oversight: Report of the Commission on Taxation and Welfare: Discussion (Resumed) (8 Mar 2023)
Aindrias Moynihan: Before we move on from the issue of home heating, many people do not qualify for social welfare but they need their homes heated as well. To face into a €30,000, €40,000 or €50,000 conversion of the house is out of reach for many households, despite the grants. It is great to focus on those on lower income but there is a whole cohort of people who are not on social...
- Committee on Budgetary Oversight: Report of the Commission on Taxation and Welfare: Discussion (Resumed) (8 Mar 2023)
Aindrias Moynihan: The witnesses covered a lot of the areas in which I am particularly interested. One of the recommendations in the commission's report is on reducing fossil fuels subsidies. There are no alternatives in many different areas. It is difficult to see silage being done with an electric tractor, although it might be possible. It is difficult to see whether the fleet of lorries on the road would...

Aindrias Moynihan: I am conscious of the time. I have another question as well and I need to get the road hauliers' view on it as well.
- Committee on Budgetary Oversight: Report of the Commission on Taxation and Welfare: Discussion (Resumed) (8 Mar 2023)
Aindrias Moynihan: Maybe I could ask another short question instead of that answer.
- Committee on Budgetary Oversight: Report of the Commission on Taxation and Welfare: Discussion (Resumed) (8 Mar 2023)
Aindrias Moynihan: I will forego that response. One of the areas where there is common ground is that in farming, you often work on your own. When you are on the road, you are often on your own. Public health, well-being and loneliness are major issues. Are there any views on what can be done to tackle this?
