- Garda Deployment. (23 Jun 2005)
Tony Gregory: I welcome the Minister's reply in so far as I understand that he intends to change what has been the position until now. My question relates to events that generate very large profits. I am referring to police activities outside the events that, until now, the event organiser gets free gratis. In other words, the taxpayer subsidises them. I mention Croke Park because I know it best; it is in...
- Garda Deployment. (23 Jun 2005)
Tony Gregory: Is the Minister aware that the Garda admit that despite the intense activity they organise when major events arise â we have three nights of U2 concerts coming up this weekend â it still cannot control people drinking on footpaths outside pubs, urinating in public and illegally parking cars and obstructing residents, which makes life very difficult for residents living in the area? They...
- Garda Deployment. (23 Jun 2005)
Tony Gregory: ââfor the police activities outside the event, areas around the cordoned area cannot be properly policed. If the event organisers were paying their fair share, instead of the taxpayers subsidising huge profits, perhaps the Garda could put in the resources and ensure public safety in respect of everyone but particularly the people who live in those areas.

Tony Gregory: Tugaim tacaÃocht iomlán do gach uile chuid den tairiscint seo de chuid Pháirtà an Chomhaontais Ghlais. I support the Green Party's motion in its entirety as I regard it as presented in measured and reasonable terms. I find it interesting to note the Fine Gael Party, like the Government is not prepared to accept it in all its provisions. It is essential at this stage, following the G8...
- G8 Summit and Overseas Development Aid: Motion (Resumed). (29 Jun 2005)
Tony Gregory: Equally, the reneging of the solemn promise given by the Taoiseach, Deputy Bertie Ahern, at the UN to meet the 0.7% GNP target, sullied the good name of Ireland in a most unnecessary and reprehensible way. If for no other reason than to restore Ireland's honourable good name, the Government must reaffirm Ireland's commitment to this target at the forthcoming UN millennium summit. I accept...
- G8 Summit and Overseas Development Aid: Motion (Resumed). (29 Jun 2005)
Tony Gregory: Ireland must honour the commitment of the 0.7% target sooner than 2015, the date given by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Deputy Dermot Ahern, this morning. International social justice is to a significant degree dependent on fair trade. A real test to our commitment to achieving justice for the less developed countries is to review, a reasonable term, all subsidies given to producers in...
