We have all had to access our personal security and those pieces need to be dealt with. It crosses over into the two...

Ruairí Ó Murchú: There is the wider thing in relation to the European Union. When we are talking about protection of democracy, the biggest protection we need to look at is that the door has been left open for the likes of Marine Le Pen and other people across Europe because there are a huge number of people on the periphery who feel they have been left behind.

Ruairí Ó Murchú: Frances Haugen and others have looked at trying to create within a virtual world how some of these social media algorithms work, and it is only at that point a determination in the rules can be made. Within GDPR, there are those pieces of information that cannot be used wrongly that relate to race, sexual orientation etc. One last-----

- Committee on Budgetary Oversight: Film Sector Tax Credits: Discussion (Resumed) (12 Oct 2022)
Ruairí Ó Murchú: We would all agree that we would want to see investment for the continuity of section 481 to build the industry. We want to see sustainable, good jobs in a vibrant industry. Production companies will make section 481 applications. The designated activity company, DAC, is a special purpose vehicle where the money can be put. It deals with the ins and outs and all the operations relating to...

- Committee on Budgetary Oversight: Film Sector Tax Credits: Discussion (Resumed) (12 Oct 2022)
Ruairí Ó Murchú: So there is a difficulty. Some of that has come from workers, crew members and Irish Equity. They do not believe that they are represented in the bodies that are here or by Screen Ireland, which will attend. Whether that is right or wrong, that is the belief.
