Does...

Social Welfare (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 2023: Second Stage (23 Nov 2023)

Claire Kerrane: I also welcome this year’s social welfare Bill. I will take the opportunity to raise a couple of issues. I understand the legislation around lone parents and the treatment of child maintenance and social welfare payments is to come. I ask that it be done as quickly as possible. I have made the point many times that child maintenance is for the upbringing of a child or children. It...

Claire Kerrane: I thank the witnesses for coming in and for their detailed opening statement. I have a couple of questions about the money allocated and the money spent to date, just so we are absolutely clear. The allocation of the reserve fund to Ireland of €1.015 billion was significant. In its totality, of the more than €1 billion that was allocated to the Department of Public...

Claire Kerrane: A reply I received to a parliamentary question also included that figure of 16% and stated that exports to Britain account for 16% of the sheep meat market. A level of 16% is still 16%. Was a certain percentage required and 16% was not enough?
