- Written Answers — Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht: Irish Language (26 Feb 2013)
Dinny McGinley: I refer the Deputy to my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 171 on 20 December 2012. In the context of the Good Friday Agreement and the St. Andrews Agreement, the Government continues to follow developments closely in relation to the proposed Irish Language Act in Northern Ireland, as well as the overall enhancement and protection of the Irish language in that jurisdiction. The...
- Seanad: Confidence in Minister for Justice and Equality and Defence: Motion (27 Feb 2013)
Dinny McGinley: Unfortunately, the Minister for Justice and Equality, Deputy Alan Shatter, is unavailable. I welcome the opportunity to come before the House to defend his record and that of the Government-----
- Seanad: Confidence in Minister for Justice and Equality and Defence: Motion (27 Feb 2013)
Dinny McGinley: I am sure the Minister is gainfully employed on many other duties.
- Seanad: Confidence in Minister for Justice and Equality and Defence: Motion (27 Feb 2013)
Dinny McGinley: I am disappointed by the fact that the Fianna Fáil Senators have tabled the motion. In the first place the motion is, to a large extent, a re-run of a recent and similar attempt to attack the way in which the Minister and the Government are handling difficult and complex issues within his ministerial brief. As that attempt, in the form of another proposed motion, was overwhelmingly...
- Seanad: Adjournment Matters: Seirbhísí Iompair Oileán (27 Feb 2013)
Dinny McGinley: NÃl sin fÃor. Táim ag caitheamh nÃos mó ama agus airgid san iarthar ná fiú amháin i dTÃr Chonaill. Tá siadsan ag rá ansin nach bhfeiceann siad ar chor ar bith mé, agus go mbÃm de shÃor i gConamara.
- Seanad: Adjournment Matters: Seirbhísí Iompair Oileán (27 Feb 2013)
Dinny McGinley: Ar dtús, tá áthas orm go bhfuil an t-allúntas céanna againn don bhliain reatha 2013 le seirbhÃsà mar sin a chur ar fáil do na hoileáin agus mar a bhà anuraidh: ¤5.9 milliún. Saghas éachta é sin nuair atá ciorruithe i ngach gné de na caiteachais atá ar fáil do na Ranna ar fad sa tÃr, gur éirigh linn an t-allúntas i mbliana a choinneáil mar a bhà sé anuraidh. Léiriú...
- Seanad: Adjournment Matters: Seirbhísí Iompair Oileán (27 Feb 2013)
Dinny McGinley: Is é an rud is tábhachtaà nó go bhfuil an tseirbhÃs ann, go bhfuil sà ar fáil ar an gcaighdeán céanna agus go bhfuil sà leanúnach. Tá ciste teoranta agam agus táimid ag iarraidh tabhairt faoin tseirbhÃs aeir a choinneáil ag dul. Nà féidir liom geallúint a thabhairt go dtà go bhfeicimid cad é a tharlóidh ins an tseirbhÃs aeir. Tá an dá sheirbhÃs tábhachtach. Tá...

Dinny McGinley: I can confirm that my Department has allocated a grant of €248,500 in principle to enable Donegal County Council to undertake the planning and construction phase of the development of a helipad on Toraigh. Dinny McGinley: I do not know if this has any implications for my own constituency.
- Seanad: Electoral (Amendment) (Dáil Constituencies) Bill 2012: Second Stage (5 Mar 2013)
Dinny McGinley: Gabhaim buÃochas do na Seanadóirà a labhair ar an ábhar seo tráthnóna as an méid a bhà le rá acu. I thank the Senators who made contributions to the Second Stage debate on the Electoral (Amendment) (Dáil Constituencies) Bill. Based on those contributions, there is a general understanding of the need to respect the independence of the Constituency Commission and to accept its...

Dinny McGinley: The Deputy will appreciate that the details sought by him are extensive and, accordingly, it has not been possible to collate the requested information in the time available. Údarás na Gaeltachta has been requested to supply the relevant data as soon as possible and I can assure the Deputy that it will be forwarded directly to him when it becomes available.

- Written Answers — Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht: Broadband Services Provision (12 Mar 2013)
Dinny McGinley: I understand that all tenants in business units owned by Údarás na Gaeltachta make their own arrangements with various broadband suppliers, depending on the options available in the areas in question. I am advised also that virtually all Údarás na Gaeltachta properties could potentially have access to very fast broadband speeds, as detailed in the Deputy’s...
- Ceisteanna - Questions - Priority Questions: Coistí Rannach (13 Mar 2013)
Dinny McGinley: Dála an scéil, tá an-áthas orm go bhfuil an chéad cheist tosaíochta inniu as Gaeilge. Sílim go bhfuil sin an-oiriúnach ar fad agus molaim an Teachtaí as an cheist sin a chur. Tá súil agam go mbeidh sé sásta leis an bhfreagra. Déanann an Coiste Rialtais ar an Ghaeilge agus ar an Ghaeltacht, a bhfuil an Taoiseach ina...
- Ceisteanna - Questions - Priority Questions: Coistí Rannach (13 Mar 2013)
Dinny McGinley: Ar dtús, fáiltím i gcónaí roimh moltaí dearfa, constructive, ón Choimisinéir Teanga. Táimid anseo chun éisteacht le daoine mar sin, má tá rudaí deimhneacha le rá acu. Maidir leis an straitéis 20 bliain, diúltaím go huile agus go hiomlán an chaint atá ag dul ar aghaidh nach bhfuil dul chun cinn...
- Ceisteanna - Questions - Priority Questions: Coistí Rannach (13 Mar 2013)
Dinny McGinley: Tá dul chun cinn mór déanta ar an straitéis 20 bliain. An chéad rud a rinne muid, mar a dúradh sa freagra a thug mé don Teachta, ná go bhfuil an fochoiste Rialtais againn a thagann le chéile agus a bheidh ag teacht le chéile chun monatóireacht a dhéanamh ar an straitéis 20 bliain. Freisin, tá sé mar phríomh...
- Ceisteanna - Questions - Priority Questions: Coistí Rannach (13 Mar 2013)
Dinny McGinley: Cuirim fáilte mhór roimh an breis agus 700 gearán a bheith déanta leis an coimisinéir, mar léiríonn sin domsa mar Aire Stáit go bhfuil pobal amuigh ansin atá ag éileamh seirbhísí ón Stát trí Ghaeilge agus má tá gearán acu, go ndéanann siad leis an Coimisinéir Teanga é. Sin an fáth go...
- Ceisteanna - Questions - Priority Questions: Tionscal na gColáistí Samhraidh (13 Mar 2013)
Dinny McGinley: I dtosach báire, ba mhaith liom a rá go dtagann na cúinsí a bhaineann le hoiliúint ábhar oidí faoin Roinn Oideachais agus Scileanna. Mar is eol don Teachta, thóg an Roinn sin cinneadh deireadh a chur leis an deontas d'ábhair oidí don tréimhse éigeantach a chaitear sa Ghaeltacht ón bhliain acadúil 2012 go 2013 ar aghaidh....
- Ceisteanna - Questions - Priority Questions: Tionscal na gColáistí Samhraidh (13 Mar 2013)
Dinny McGinley: Táimid ag díriú isteach ar chúrsaí oideachais nach mbaineann go hiomlán liom ach mar sin féin go bhfuil suim agam iontu. Caithfidh na hábhair múinteoirí dhá thréimhse coicíse - mí iomlán ar fad - a chaitheamh sa Ghaeltacht i rith na Cásca. Sílim gur dul chun cinn mór é sin. Tuigeann an Rialtas go...
