- Local Government (Amendment) Bill 2016: First Stage (21 Jan 2016)
Frank Feighan: If it is in order to say so, I support this Bill. This proposal is causing great confusion and anger and in the interests of openness and transparency, as a Government Member, I support this Bill.
- Topical Issue Debate: County Boundaries (21 Jan 2016)
Frank Feighan: Thank you, Deputy. I endorse your Topical Issues matter and made a submission myself last week in this regard. I call the Minister of State, who has four minutes to reply.
- Order of Business (26 Jan 2016)
Frank Feighan: Come on.
- Order of Business (26 Jan 2016)
Frank Feighan: On promised legislation, I wonder when the national monuments Bill will come before the House. Our national heritage needs to be protected and regulated. As certain structures and sites in this country are of national importance and are certainly worthy of State protection, the national monuments Bill should come before the House sooner rather than later.

- Seanad: Election of Cathaoirleach (8 Jun 2016)
Frank Feighan: I congratulate the Cathaoirleach and wish him well for the next two, three, four or five years. I commiserate with my friend, Senator Rose Conway-Walsh, who I am delighted to see here today. We are coming from a background over the last 35 years of very difficult times. Today, Ireland is the 12th most peaceful country on the planet. A lot of people from all political parties have worked...
- Seanad: Order of Business (15 Jun 2016)
Frank Feighan: I congratulate the Cathaoirleach on his appointment and wish him success. I join in the condemnation of the massacre in Orlando. This is a hate crime and I am delighted that the people of the island of Ireland have joined in sending condolences to the people of Orlando. I look forward to the debate on homelessness. The current situation is causing major hardship for families. A colleague...
- Seanad: Poverty and Homelessness: Motion (15 Jun 2016)
Frank Feighan: I wish the Leas-Chathaoirleach well in his role. It is great to be back in the Seanad. I was here from 2002 to 2007.
- Seanad: Poverty and Homelessness: Motion (15 Jun 2016)
Frank Feighan: I feel it is a great elevation from the Dáil. Unfortunately, we do not have to walk too far from the gates of Leinster House to see the extent of the homelessness crisis. Doorstep after doorstep in Dublin provides unacceptable accommodation for people who are living at the margins of society. This worthwhile motion is very welcome. We can work together across all parties to try to...
- Seanad: Order of Business (21 Jun 2016)
Frank Feighan: Last weekend, I noted with great interest the celebrations of the 125th birthday of John A. Costello. As Senators will know, he was the leader of Fine Gael, a Taoiseach and he also declared Ireland a Republic in 1949. Up until that time, Ireland was an active member of the Commonwealth. Relations are now at an all-time high with the new Commonwealth that has a population of 2.2 billion and...
- Seanad: Order of Business (21 Jun 2016)
Frank Feighan: We are a mature Republic so we must seek a debate to discuss the economy and the fact that there are 2.2 billion people in the Commonwealth. It is time we took our place again within the Commonwealth. The Republic of Ireland should consider the matter.
- Seanad: EU-UK Relations: Statements (22 Jun 2016)
Frank Feighan: People in Britain will go to the polls tomorrow to decide whether they should remain in or leave the European Union. It is the second time a referendum on the issue has been held in the UK. In 1975, a large majority - 67% - voted to remain in what was then the EEC. Throughout the current campaign many issues have been debated vigorously including immigration, security and the economic...
- Seanad: Order of Business (23 Jun 2016)
Frank Feighan: I support my colleague, Senator Hopkins, in calling for the rehab money to be reallocated. Some €7.85 million was allocated a year ago and must be put into use immediately. For anyone who is not familiar with what has happened at Roscommon hospital, some €20 million has been spent on it in the past five years, the endoscopy unit is open, there is an air ambulance, rehab...
- Seanad: Order of Business (28 Jun 2016)
Frank Feighan: Like my colleague Senator Aodhán Ó Ríordáin, I rise to send out congratulations to our near neighbours and cousins in Iceland.Last night was one of the most joyous sporting occasions that an Irish team was not involved in. I have nothing against England and just feel that the match was wonderful. I am very worried about one thing that we will talk about in the next...
- Seanad: United Kingdom Referendum on European Union Membership: Statements (28 Jun 2016)
Frank Feighan: I thank the Minister for coming into the House to speak on a very important referendum in the United Kingdom which has sent shockwaves through the economic and political systems in Britain, Ireland and Europe. The decision is truly the biggest ever challenge facing the UK, Ireland and Europe in the past 50 years. Economically, these are very worrying times for our close neighbour. Until...
- Seanad: Order of Business (29 Jun 2016)
Frank Feighan: I join other Senators in condemning the awful massacre in Istanbul Atatürk Airport. It happened during Ramadan, which is a period of prayer, fasting, religious devotion and charity. It belies the contention that ISIS is an Islamic or Muslim organisation. It is antithetical to Islam and that should go on the record of the House. It does not represent Islam or Muslim countries. Brexit...
- Seanad: Immigration (Reform) (Regularisation of Residency Status) Bill 2016: Second Stage (29 Jun 2016)
Frank Feighan: I thank the Senator and call on Senator Boyhan.
