- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government: Implementing Housing for All: Discussion (Resumed) (8 Nov 2022)
Paul McAuliffe: I can see Deputy Gould is shocked with that answer and I was too. It shows how the housing crisis is very different in different parts of the country. Four speakers are indicating. Does everybody wish to speak? We might do the officials a favour. Rather than the officials coming back a second time, we will give all members eight minutes each and have one more round. Is that okay? Okay....

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government: Implementing Housing for All: Discussion (Resumed) (8 Nov 2022)
Paul McAuliffe: I will take an opportunity to speak and will let Deputy Gould in for a moment at the end. To reflect Deputy O'Donoghue's point it is important that we say to anyone looking in who is from a town or village that a huge number of the schemes available in Housing for All are available in towns and villages. I refer to schemes such as Croí Cónaithe, the affordable rental and...

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government: Implementing Housing for All: Discussion (Resumed) (8 Nov 2022)
Paul McAuliffe: I know in Dublin city the demand for one and two beds is 80%. Would Dr. Daly say that it is maybe not as high as that in Limerick but in the same area?
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government: Implementing Housing for All: Discussion (Resumed) (8 Nov 2022)
Paul McAuliffe: If we are building social housing should we build one and two bedrooms in order to satisfy the need for housing units that exists and given that many of these households have been on the list for some time it is likely to be the family-sized units they will have as well. What about Waterford?

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government: Implementing Housing for All: Discussion (Resumed) (8 Nov 2022)
Paul McAuliffe: That concludes our business today. I ask Ms Curley to check the figure of €11,000 per unit as there was some debate on it here so it would be useful if she could clarify it for the committee in writing because we have had other figures from other local authorities and this is about us finding out what each local authority's experience is. If she could check and come back to the...
- Ceisteanna ar Pholasaí nó ar Reachtaíocht - Questions on Policy or Legislation (17 Nov 2022)
Paul McAuliffe: The Government has a very strong ambition to decarbonise the taxi fleet and it has in place a grant for taxi drivers to do so. This week, however, many taxi drivers who have applied and were approved for the grant and placed orders for e-vehicles have received notification that the grant will be cancelled and they will have to reapply next February, and that is because the vehicle cannot be...
- Dublin City Safety Initiatives and Other Services: Statements (17 Nov 2022)
Paul McAuliffe: I echo the comments of my colleagues from Dublin regarding how proud we are of the city. When we talk about its problems, we are often serving to denigrate the city we are all passionate about. I am very proud of Dublin. I am proud of its representatives when they play in Croke Park, when I visit many of the community projects here and when I travel to other cities and see what we do well....

Chapter 22 - Ireland Apple Escrow Fund (17 Nov 2022) Paul McAuliffe: I welcome Mr. Hogan and his team. Let us start with the external factors. Today, the British Chancellor of the Exchequer will introduce austerity measures amounting to nearly £24 billion and increase taxation by something similar. From an Irish perspective, this is in direct contrast with the €11 billion cost-of-living package we were able to put in place a number of weeks ago...
