Jim Daly: If austerity was introduced years ago we would have a far better society and a far better country. It is an awful pity that people did not cut their cloth to suit their measure previously than going along with this process. The Estonian economy is an example of austerity. An austerity government was in place there for four years. It was re-elected with a huge mandate in the past year.

Jim Daly: The Estonian economy actually achieved growth of 7% on the back of four years of austerity. The members of the Technical Group should wake up and smell the roses and give the people of this country a break with a bit of truth.
