Imelda Munster: The testing is sophisticated enough to catch drugs.

Public Accounts Committee: Bord na gCon Financial Statement 2017 (19 Sep 2019)

Imelda Munster: In response to questions on the "Prime Time" programme, Mr. Dollard referenced a report and stated that Bord na gCon had rehomed 1,000 dogs but that there was no accounting for the other 5,000 or 6,000. He stated that that was because Bord na gCon did not have an accurate database. He also mentioned that legislation on traceability and so on was to be commenced and that animal welfare was a...

Public Accounts Committee: Bord na gCon Financial Statement 2017 (19 Sep 2019)

Imelda Munster: I accept that the board was probably not aware of the full extent of what was happening, but it certainly knew that there were issues of traceability, given how Mr. Dollard stated that the board could not account for the numbers because there was not an accurate database. In the interests of animal welfare, did the board not feel that there was an onus on it to highlight this matter and...

Public Accounts Committee: Bord na gCon Financial Statement 2017 (19 Sep 2019)

Imelda Munster: Bord na gCon has never taken the step of flagging publicly the concerns and issues highlighted in the documentary.

Public Accounts Committee: Bord na gCon Financial Statement 2017 (19 Sep 2019)

Imelda Munster: I do not know whether any committee members were aware of that, so Mr. Dollard might forward to us information on where Bord na gCon had flagged the issues in the public domain.

Public Accounts Committee: Bord na gCon Financial Statement 2017 (19 Sep 2019)

Imelda Munster: What will the board do to curb overbreeding?

Public Accounts Committee: Bord na gCon Financial Statement 2017 (19 Sep 2019)

Imelda Munster: I will ask the departmental officials the same question about plans and measures to curb overbreeding. Has anything come to the fore?

Public Accounts Committee: Bord na gCon Financial Statement 2017 (19 Sep 2019)

Imelda Munster: My final question is for Dr. Smyth. When I asked about Bord na gCon flagging the concerns and details highlighted in the "Prime Time" programme, Mr. Dollard stated that it had put that information into the public domain. Was the Department aware of what methods the board had used to do so?

Public Accounts Committee: Bord na gCon Financial Statement 2017 (19 Sep 2019)

Imelda Munster: The sheer scale of what was shown in the programme was quite shocking. We have been told that it is difficult to provide figures, given the lack of traceability, but that could also mean that the number is even higher. Many people are concerned by how it took the programme to highlight the problem and that neither the Department nor the board had done enough to introduce measures to prevent...

Public Accounts Committee: Bord na gCon Financial Statement 2017 (19 Sep 2019)

Imelda Munster: I am conscious time is not on our side so I will finish.

An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (24 Sep 2019)

Imelda Munster: Page 83 of the programme for Government deals with delivering home care supports. I refer to the case of Hannah Donnelly from Drogheda who was admitted to Temple Street hospital in March 2017 for much needed surgery. She has Apert syndrome. Complications arose, as a result of which she has been in hospital for two and a half years. Medical advice given in March 2018 stated the best place...

Written Answers — Department of Housing, Planning, and Local Government: Derelict Sites Data (24 Sep 2019)

Imelda Munster: 538. To ask the Minister for Housing, Planning, and Local Government the number of voids for each local authority area by county; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [38262/19]

Health (Medical Entitlements in Nursing Homes) (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 2019: First Stage (25 Sep 2019)

Imelda Munster: I move:That leave be granted to introduce Bill entitled an Act to provide for the continued access to medical card entitlements under the Health (Nursing Homes) Act 1990 for residents in nursing homes; and to provide for related matters. I wish to introduce the Bill on behalf of Deputy Ó Caoláin and on my own behalf. This Bill will ensure that residents of private nursing homes...

Imelda Munster: I move: "That the Bill be taken in Private Members' time."

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Julianstown Bypass: Discussion (25 Sep 2019)

Imelda Munster: I ask the officials to picture a small, picturesque village with a population of 600 through which in excess of 20,000 vehicles, including heavy goods vehicles, thunder every week. People have to see it to believe it. Trying to cross the road in the middle of the village of Julianstown involves taking one's life in one's hands. It is like trying to cross an extremely busy dual carriageway....

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Julianstown Bypass: Discussion (25 Sep 2019)

Imelda Munster: An enormous amount of land in south Louth and east Meath has been zoned for residential housing development in the next few years. That will compound the problem. Mr. Mullaney referred to the public transport option. Drogheda railway station is at capacity and passengers can barely get on a train at Laytown some mornings. I understand the DART expansion to Drogheda may not be delivered...

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Julianstown Bypass: Discussion (25 Sep 2019)

Imelda Munster: While I accept that the Department needs to take on board public transport options, there are no realistic public transport plans to alleviate the daily congestion through Julianstown in the near future. If there were, Mr. Mullaney would have been able to tell us about them. Are they not all long-term plans?

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Julianstown Bypass: Discussion (25 Sep 2019)

Imelda Munster: A good few years.

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Julianstown Bypass: Discussion (25 Sep 2019)

Imelda Munster: That will only deal with capacity.

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Julianstown Bypass: Discussion (25 Sep 2019)

Imelda Munster: That is my point. There are no foreseeable public transport options being put forward or Mr. Mullaney would have been able to give us that information. These plans are all long term. We have not had confirmation of a date for the expansion of the DART to Drogheda but 2027 has been mentioned.
