Michael Harty: I understand it is the case in some jurisdictions that, if a sperm donor makes a donation, he can sign an anonymity form to say he does not want to be traced. Is that something which should not be allowed in the legislation?

Michael Harty: On behalf of the committee, I thank the delegates for coming to give their evidence. It is obviously a very complex issue and I do not think this is the last meeting we will have in our pre-legislative scrutiny of the issue of assisted human reproduction. The debate has been very informative, if robust at times. We have to take all viewpoints on board, distil them and come up with legislation.
