Joe McHugh: The recession is not over. We were also in a deep hole in the 1980s but at that time people fished and farmed. Farmers could get £1,000 for a good bullock in 1981 or 1982. Those prices are no longer available and that is something we must address. People are back working on the land this summer because of the good weather. They have been back cutting turf and baling hay in recent weeks.
