- Health Services: Motion (Resumed) (6 Feb 2008)
Fergus O'Dowd: I support the motion fully and, in particular the reference to "the imminent threat to the critical front line hospital services in the north east". Mr. Finbarr Lennon, consultant general and breast surgeon in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, held high office advising the North Eastern Health Board when it was in place. - Health Services: Motion (Resumed) (6 Feb 2008)
Fergus O'Dowd: It was directed to Dr. David Vaughan, chairperson of the medical board in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, and was circulated widely. - Killing of Paul Quinn: Statements (7 Feb 2008)
Fergus O'Dowd: I welcome this debate. It is very important that it take place in this Chamber. With no disrespect to the Minister of State, Deputy Seán Power, I would have believed this debate warranted the presence of a senior Minister for its full duration. The inquiry into the murder has led to very serious allegations which, if true, will have significant and serious ramifications north and south of...

Fergus O'Dowd: I thank the Ceann Comhairle for allowing me to raise this issue which, like that raised by Deputy Costello, relates to the appalling conditions in which hospital staff must work, particularly in accident and emergency wards.
