However, we believe this is covered at the wider plan-making stage through the zoning of land for various...

Kieran O'Donnell: At government level, under the climate action Act, each local authority is legally required to produce a climate action plan. All local authorities are doing that and they are across various different areas. I have seen some of the draft plans. Kieran O'Donnell: Currently the Department is carrying out work with the SEAI to come up with a measurement of embodied carbon, which is very important. That policy has not been fully settled yet. Once that review is done and if it proposes including it in planning legislation, the Minister whoever it is, will look at it at that point. Certainly, if I were the Minister, I would be looking at it at that...

An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (5 Mar 2024)

Kieran O'Donnell: As the Deputy is aware, there is nothing to prevent people in any local authority area from applying to build houses and structures made of wood. However, it is up to a local authority to assess each application on its merits. That message needs to go out. I do not know the specifics of this case. The Deputy may wish to provide them to me. We obviously cannot get directly involved in any...
