- Select Committee on Health: Health (Assisted Human Reproduction) Bill 2022: Committee Stage (Resumed) (21 Feb 2024)
Róisín Shortall: On a point of order, I think there is a problem with the presentation of these groupings. It is hard to figure out where they start and end. My assumption is that each group ends with a semi-colon. I am sorry this sounds very pedantic, but all the text of amendments Nos. 141 and 143 seems to be included, and then the next three lines.
- Select Committee on Health: Health (Assisted Human Reproduction) Bill 2022: Committee Stage (Resumed) (21 Feb 2024)
Róisín Shortall: The presentation of this is very confusing. Does the Cathaoirleach know what I mean? It would seem that the end of a grouping is marked by a semi-colon. Is that the Minister's understanding as well?

- An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (20 Feb 2024)
Róisín Shortall: I join with others in asking for a special debate this week on the Children’s Rights Alliance report card in respect of children’s mental health services. For three years in a row, the Government has received an E grade. This is based on the fact that children are still being moved into adult mental health units, that the number of beds relating to children’s mental...
- Paediatric Orthopaedic and Urology Services: Motion [Private Members] (20 Feb 2024)
Róisín Shortall: We very often hear reference made to the fact that seven years ago the then Minister for Health, Deputy Harris, gave a commitment that no child would wait more than four months for spinal surgery. It is worth reminding ourselves of that fact and the empty promise that was made. The same commitment was given by the current Minister for Health two years ago, as I am sure he will recall, but...
- Health (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 2024: Second Stage (21 Feb 2024)
Róisín Shortall: I welcome the opportunity to speak on the Bill, which the Social Democrats will be supporting. However, I have some concerns about the approach being taken in Part 2 in terms of both health and housing. I will go into detail on those matters in a few moments. In the context of Part 3, I very much welcome the provisions to enhance the role of community pharmacists. I will begin by...

Róisín Shortall: 630. To ask the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the position of St. Brendan's Community Village Project in Mulranny, County Mayo, which provides a continuum of housing care from independent living through to high support care, within the one community; if he appreciates that the viability of this not-for-profit charity is threatened by the same challenges which affect...

- Select Committee on Health: Health (Assisted Human Reproduction) Bill 2022: Committee Stage (Resumed) (21 Feb 2024)
Róisín Shortall: It then goes on to the next parts of the text. It is very hard to engage in this debate when there is this confusion. I am not blaming the Minister. I am just saying the Bills Office should be clear about this material. It took me a while to figure out that the end of a grouping is marked by a semi-colon. This is not good enough when there is such a body of work to be dealt with. The...
