- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach: Discussion Paper on Taxation: Deputy Marc MacSharry (28 Jun 2018)
Rose Conway Walsh: I am sorry about that. Obviously, a lot of work has gone into this and, as Deputy MacSharry stated, it has worked in other countries. The beauty of child benefit is that it reaches all children on the basis of equality. I am not sure that one can say that Deputy MacSharry's proposal would treat children the same, that one can do that the same in the welfare system as in the tax system....

My party will have a further look at it, in terms of some of the positive externalities and also the negative ones that might surround it. I thank Deputy MacSharry for the work that he has put into it. I appreciate that the Deputy is presenting it in a non-party way.
- Seanad: Order of Business (3 Jul 2018)
Rose Conway Walsh: I welcome the recent announcement regarding the traditional harvesting rights of the seaweed harvesters along the western counties, including my county of Mayo. From the very beginning of the lifetime of this Seanad, it is an issue we have fought hard to put right. We had major concerns around the harvesting of seaweed, with particular concerns rooted in the sell-off of Arramara Teoranta to...

Rose Conway Walsh: I would like to thank Senator Higgins for tabling these amendments, and to say I am fully supportive of them. It is vitally important that this board, which pans so many Departments, has a constitution that sets best practice, in terms of gender balance, duration and everything else. It is crucially important we get this right. This board needs to lead the way in many things. There are...
- Seanad: Data Sharing and Governance Bill 2018: Committee Stage (Resumed) (3 Jul 2018)
Rose Conway Walsh: I support this. I do not think a cohort of people can be excluded, certainly not local authority members who, as has been the case in recent years in particular, come from a variety of backgrounds. There was a time Mayo County Council when more than 50% of the members of Mayo County Council were auctioneers, but that is a number of years ago now.

In the context of his role as the statutory financial adviser, how the project was set up in the first place and how the assessment was made, will he explain who was responsible for conducting the stress-testing of the parent company? How was it decided that the project was a safe bet?
