- Other Questions: Local Improvement Scheme Funding (21 Feb 2018)
Joe Carey: I also welcome the injection of capital into our country roads and laneways. Throughout County Clare, we benefitted by approximately €867,000 last year and I welcome the confirmation that a new €10 million fund will be announced this year. A number of constituents who have benefitted from the LIS have said to me that some roads are falling into a state of disrepair because...
- Other Questions: Local Improvement Scheme Funding (21 Feb 2018)
Joe Carey: The Minister might give clarity on the establishment of a fund for LIS roads that fall into disrepair. These roads could be 15 or 20 years old and there is no access to county council funds to repair them. If a fund was created, local groups could apply to it and carry out repair works. I urge the Minister to give that consideration.
- Other Questions: Local Improvement Scheme Funding (21 Feb 2018)
Joe Carey: I specifically refer to LIS roads.

- Other Questions: Regional Development Initiatives (21 Feb 2018)
Joe Carey: I thank the Minister of State for his answer. I support this initiative. It is doing wonderful work. The Minister of State has confirmed that he made an offer of €300,000 to co-fund the appointment of officers in each local authority along the western coast. What type of response has the Minister of State got back from the chief executives of the different local authorities? Will...

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Social Protection: Public Services Card: Discussion (Resumed) (22 Feb 2018)
Joe Carey: Clarity is required. At the last hearings there was a lot of misinformation on this issue. I value the public services card and believe it is a good initiative. I hold one and deal with people on a daily basis who have it and do not seem to have an issue with it. Has the Department received many complaints about the public services card? Does the take-up vary from region to region? Are...

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Future of Mental Health Care: Mental Health Services: Discussion (Resumed) (7 Mar 2018)
Joe Carey: I agree with Deputy Brassil. One of the key questions concerns the witnesses' recommendations with regard to recruitment and retention of staff. What should this committee recommend to the Government to try to get over that significant barrier and to make it more attractive? In a general sense, how many patients per day, week or month would a psychiatrist see across the different...

Could we get a breakdown of the figures in terms of positions...
