- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Disability Matters: Disability Inclusive Social Protection: Discussion (Resumed) (18 May 2023)
Pauline Tully: What this committee is all about, and the reason we have invited you all as representatives of various Departments, is the need to change how we look at disability. We need to become a much more inclusive society. Disability within our society and within all settings should be the norm rather than the exception. For too long we locked disabled people away and segregated them. We need to...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Autism: Autism Policy: Discussion (Resumed) (23 May 2023)
Pauline Tully: I welcome the Minister of State and her team. I echo what other speakers have said about CAMHS. The frustration I am hearing expressed by families regarding situations where children are sent to a service, and they may have been referred by a CDNT, only to be refused admission and sent back to the CDNT. These children are falling between two stools. The Minister of State spoke about this...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Autism: Autism Policy: Discussion (Resumed) (23 May 2023)
Pauline Tully: I was informed that the mental health team in the adult unit said this person should not be there and they are inappropriately placed there. They have actually said this. The problem is they will not allow this person to go home even though it is their and their family’s wish. They are insisting that a service be provided that is not there.

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Autism: Autism Policy: Discussion (Resumed) (23 May 2023)
Pauline Tully: I wish the Minister a good afternoon. On the summer provision, she indicated that if a school in an area where there is a demand for summer provision is not providing that, an organisation other than a school can do so. Are supports being given to that organisation? It would be quite difficult if it is a charitable organisation, a parent's group or whatever. A point that some parents made...

Pauline Tully: If an organisation or majority in an area wants to run it, can they use a school? Will a school be made available in an area? It does not necessarily have to be a special school. Can any school be used?

- Access to Autism and Disability Assessments and Supports: Motion [Private Members] (24 May 2023)
Pauline Tully: I welcome the opportunity to speak on the topic of autism and disability assessments and supports today. I thank the Labour Party for bringing this motion forward. All 91 children's disability network teams, CDNTs, are up and running since 2021. The establishment of these teams was part of the reconfiguration of children's disability services and the aim was to ensure fairer access and...
- Ceisteanna ar Pholasaí nó ar Reachtaíocht - Questions on Policy or Legislation (24 May 2023)
Pauline Tully: A few days ago, the Taoiseach made a comment about my party's policies where he used a term "slow learners". I do not care what the Taoiseach thinks about my party policies. In fact, I would be worried and wondering where we were going wrong if he agreed with them. However, I care about the choice of words because he has caused deep upset to disabled people, especially those with...
