Jerry Buttimer: Could I just say, before the Minister leaves, that it is refreshing and positive to see a full Cabinet Minister taking a Commencement matter in the Seanad. The Minister might communicate to his Cabinet colleagues that it would be welcome and a wonderful sight to see Cabinet Ministers taking Commencement matters. I thank the Minister for being here this afternoon for that.

Jerry Buttimer: I have written to all Cabinet Ministers on foot of comments from Members of the House complaining at the lack of Cabinet Ministers, as well as Ministers of State complaining on the floor of the Seanad about they having to take two, three or four Commencement matters. Jerry Buttimer: I concur with the Leas-Chathaoirleach that Congressman Neal has been a very good friend of Ireland and not just in recent times. The hallmark of a politician is that in his local base in Springfield, when you talk to people from Springfield, they had the same regard for Congressman Neal then as they have now. Jerry Buttimer: I reiterate to Senator Clonan that he is entitled to write to the committee, to attend any meeting and to request that the issue he has raised be put on the work programme. He can talk to his group about replacing Senator Craughwell to give him more status than as just an ordinary Member. He is entitled to do that.
