- Committee on Public Petitions: Decisions on Public Petitions Received (13 Jul 2023)
Pat Buckley: I agree. There is a lot of work in that, given the response runs to more than eight pages. The responses from the Secretary General and the assistant chief executive of Cork City Council seem to be good enough. We will wait and see what the response of the petitioner is. I agree with the recommendation.
- Committee on Public Petitions: Decisions on Public Petitions Received (13 Jul 2023)
Pat Buckley: This is substantial. As I said at a previous meeting, we are not miracle workers. We will go with the recommendations and see what we can do about this. It is a difficult process and it has to follow procedure, so I will agree with the recommendations.

- Committee on Public Petitions: Decisions on Public Petitions Received (13 Jul 2023)
Pat Buckley: I thank the whole committee and all the staff. I say this all the time, but the amount of work, toing and froing, paperwork, questions and attempts to squeeze out answers makes our job an awful lot easier, as does reading the condensed material. I just always want to put that on the record. The staff have been absolutely exemplary.
- Escalation of Violence in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territory: Motion (Resumed) [Private Members] (14 Nov 2023)
Pat Buckley: I am going to put a full stop here. It is as simple as this. We have to refer the Israeli Government to the ICC. I ask the Government to withdraw its amendment. A number of days ago, the High Representative, on behalf of the European Union, stated, "The EU condemns the use of hospitals and civilians as human shields by Hamas." The statement continues, "The EU emphasizes that...

- Committee on Public Petitions: Consideration of Public Petition to Reopen Ennis, Nenagh and St. John's Emergency Departments: Discussion (16 Nov 2023)
Pat Buckley: The reason I let the other speakers go first is that it is their immediate area. I am very proud of this public petitions committee because it is a last chance for the likes of yourselves to be heard. That is what is powerful here. We try not to play politics inside here. It is one of the strange committees because we try to get things done. Listening to the witnesses, there is nothing I...
- Committee on Public Petitions: Decisions on Public Petitions Received (16 Nov 2023)
Pat Buckley: The Ombudsman's response is fairly in-depth. I think it will raise a few flags with the petitioners when they get the response to this. The fact that the reading of the Bill was put back for 12 months is actually slowing it down. The Government was more or less committed to trying to strengthen the delivery of services instead of reviewing the 2005 Act. I suspect that once the petitioner...

- Saincheisteanna Tráthúla - Topical Issue Debate: Flood Relief (23 Nov 2023)
Pat Buckley: Considering this is about flood relief, I acknowledge that I met the Minister of State, Deputy O'Donnell, in Midleton at the entrance to Tir Cluain estate and Moore's Bridge on the Sunday. I want to give a synopsis of why we are here tonight. These are the words of one of the volunteers in the hub in Midleton, County Cork: The events of Wednesday 18 October 2023 will forever be engrained...
