Údarás na Gaeltachta. (1 Jul 2010)

Dinny McGinley: Beidh reachtaíocht maidir leis an údarás sa Teach dé Máirt seo chugainn chun síneadh tréimhse a thabhairt do na baill atá tofa ar an údarás go dtí 2012. Tá sé deacair bheith cinnte faoi aon rud anois nuair atá an straitéis á meá agus a plé ag an chomhchoiste. Cuirfear an tuarascáil chuig an Aire roimh dheireadh na miosa seo, is cinnte sin. An féidir leis an Aire a rá...

Irish Language (1 Jul 2010)

Dinny McGinley: As the Minister stated, scéim labhairt na Gaeilge has been operational in the Gaeltacht since 1935. For 75 years it has been part and parcel of the educational system in the Gaeltacht where it is administered through schools. Does the Minister agree that the format of the scheme has outlived its usefulness and probably does not accurately reflect the standard of Irish in the Gaeltacht or...

Irish Language (1 Jul 2010)

Dinny McGinley: Does the Minister agree that the main benefit of the scéim labhairt na Gaeilge was to support native Irish speakers, not in learning at school but through language in the home?

Irish Language (1 Jul 2010)

Dinny McGinley: Does he also agree that no language can survive as a living language without native speakers? Latin survives as a dead language because there are no native speakers. We do not want Irish to suffer the same fate as Latin. The main benefit of the scheme was in this area.

Polasaí don Ghaeilge (1 Jul 2010)

Dinny McGinley: Question 7: To ask the Aire Gnóthaí Pobail, Comhionannais agus Gaeltachta an bhfuil aon scéim ar bun nó ar intinn chun feidhmeannaigh teanga lánaimseartha a fhostú i ngach pobal Gaeltachta, agus iad ag feidhmiú ó oifigí nó i bhfoirgneamh atá aitheanta mar ionad tacaíochta teanga; agus an ndéanfaidh sé ráiteas ina thaobh. [28658/10]

Polasaí don Ghaeilge (1 Jul 2010)

Dinny McGinley: Is í an deacracht atá ann ná go bhfuil an Ghaeltacht ag athrú. Blianta ó shin, bhí Gaeilge ag gach éinne sa Ghaeltacht, ach anois b'fhéidir go bhfuil teaghlaigh measctha ann ina bhfuil Gaeilge ag an athair agus Béarla ag an mháthair, nó an dóigh eile. Cothaíonn seo deacrachtaí. An aontódh an Aire go mbeadh fiúntas i scéim a chuirfeadh daoine speisialta ar fáil chun...

Polasaí don Ghaeilge (1 Jul 2010)

Dinny McGinley: Sin díreach an rud a bhí i gceist agam - an t-ionad tacaíochta atá in Indreabhán in nGaillimh. Bhí an comhchoiste thíos ansin, nuair a ghlac muid fianaisí ó na pobail Gaeltachta maidir leis an straitéis. Chuaigh sé i bhfeidhm go mór orainn chomh fiúntach agus a bhféadfadh ionad mar sin a bheith, ní hamháin in Indreabhán ach sna ceantair Gaeltachta eile. Sílim gur fiú...

Message from Seanad (6 Jul 2010)

Dinny McGinley: Cuirim fáilte roimh gach deis a bhíonn againn cúrsaíÚdarás na Gaeltachta agus cúrsaí Gaeltachta a phlé sa Dáil mar ní ró-mhinic a bhíonn seans againn sin a dhéanamh. Cosúil le mo chomhghleacaí, ní féidir liom fáilte a chur roimh an Bhille seo, áfach, mar le blianta bhí Bille Údarás na Gaeltachta geallta. Bhí sé ar chlár an Rialtais le trí nó ceithre bliana agus is...

Údarás na Gaeltachta (Amendment) Bill 2010 [Seanad]: Committee and Remaining Stages (6 Jul 2010)

Dinny McGinley: Aontaím go ginearálta leis an méid atá le rá ag an Aire. Tá sé an-tábhachtach ar fad go bhfaighimid an straitéis seo i gceart. Sin an fáth go bhfuil an comhchoiste agus an fochoiste ag caitheamh an oiread sin ama leis na moltaí agus na leasuithe. Tá súil againn, ag an chéad chruinniú eile den chomhchoiste iomlán ar an 14 Iúil, go mbeimid in ann an obair a thabhairt chun...

Economic Strategy: Motion (29 Sep 2010)

Dinny McGinley: On this, our first day back after the summer recess, it is entirely appropriate that the Fine Gael Private Members' motion deals with what has become a critical unemployment situation. We are currently facing several crises in regard to finance, banking, the health system, education and in regard to crime. The most serious of all is the unemployment crisis where 460,000 people are out of...

Health Services: Motion (Resumed) (6 Oct 2010)

Dinny McGinley: While I welcome the debate on health in the Dáil this week, we are only dealing with the symptom of a hopelessly out-of-date health service in this country. We are not getting to the root cause of our difficulties, which is that we do not have a proper service. There is a solution, which we have on this side of the House. Other parties also have the solution, namely, the introduction of a...
