- Seanad: Order of Business (7 Apr 2009)
Jerry Buttimer: Talk of fairness in today's budget is premature when one considers the way the Government has dealt with the elderly, those with special needs and cystic fibrosis patients. Can we have a debate on unemployment? I call for a debate on social partnership. I welcome the return to talks by all involved in social partnership. It is time that elected Oireachtas representatives had a role in...

Jerry Buttimer: Cuirim fáilte roimh an Aire Stáit. I dtús, gabhaim buÃochas le muintir na hÃireann agus go mórmhór, the Irish Cancer Society. I thank the organisers of Daffodil Day and pay tribute to the many thousands of volunteers who collected money on that day. In particular, I pay tribute to my local co-ordinator, Breda Ryan, who I know well and who did a great job in organising it. At the...

- Seanad: Order of Business (8 Apr 2009)
Jerry Buttimer: It is extraordinary that this Government has the cheek to tax Christmas and the elderly. - Seanad: Order of Business (8 Apr 2009)
Jerry Buttimer: What is the Leader's definition of fairness? Where is his definition of equity? I welcome the fact that the political class has been cut â there is no problem there â but the Leader should come out with me on the streets of Cork and ask the ordinary person how he or she is feeling. He or she will tell him. Senator à Murchú can plámás us on this side of the House. He should come...
- Seanad: Order of Business (8 Apr 2009)
Jerry Buttimer: It is time we had an election and it is time we told the people to get this Government out, keep it out and never put its members back into government. The Government should be ashamed because it has the country in a mess.
