- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Issues Affecting the Aviation Sector: Discussion (Resumed) (26 May 2021)

- Seanad: Nithe i dtosach suíonna - Commencement Matters: Aviation Industry (15 Jun 2021)
Jerry Buttimer: I welcome the Minister of State. I endorse what Senator Timmy Dooley has said. It is imperative and incumbent upon the Government to ensure we maintain connectivity as an island nation. It is time for a real hands-on approach from the Government to engage with an all-embracing travel and aviation sector, and that includes the airlines, the airports, the staff, the travel agents,...
- Seanad: Nithe i dtosach suíonna - Commencement Matters: Aviation Industry (15 Jun 2021)
Jerry Buttimer: The Minister of State's response in itself was fantastic but, as Senator Dooley rightly said, we now need the aviation recovery task force to be re-established with a clear remit. As the Minister of State correctly stated, it will take time to drive a plan for the recovery of the aviation sector.

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: The Viability of and Opportunities for the Post Office Network: An Post (9 Jun 2021)
Jerry Buttimer: I thank Mr. McRedmond and Ms Byrne. I thank members of An Post, including the Irish Postmasters Union and staff, for the work they have done during the pandemic. Ms Byrne mentioned scale payments in her contribution. There is a significant concern that postmasters will lose income. She might explain to me how they will not lose income because I have been told that they could face a cut of...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: The Viability of and Opportunities for the Post Office Network: An Post (9 Jun 2021)
Jerry Buttimer: I have two final questions in the context of the presentations. The post office cannot cross-sell lottery products as was mentioned. As regards An Post, consolidation means closure in many cases. From talking to postmasters at local level and An Post staff, many do not share Mr. McRedmond's optimism about the future. They are concerned about the change. I hope that his vision is...

- Seanad: An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (21 Jun 2021)
Jerry Buttimer: The Cathaoirleach celebrated Luxembourg. I wish to celebrate LGBT Pride Month, which takes place every year in the month of June. Traditionally, people across the world celebrate with joyful and colourful abandon. However, because of a combination of Covid-19 and some draconian laws that have been passed, to which I will come in a minute, there is some fear and retraction of celebration. I...

- Seanad: Aviation Sector: Statements (21 Jun 2021)
Jerry Buttimer: Let us be clear. If we are going to have a debate on aviation, let us do it on the basis of the facts and not on the basis of dúirt bean liom go ndúirt bean léi.

- Seanad: Aviation Sector: Statements (21 Jun 2021)
Jerry Buttimer: I welcome the Minister of State, Deputy Naughton, to the House. Like Senator Dooley, I welcome the Minister's contribution and her decision to seek a pilot on antigen testing. I agree with other speakers that this should have been done by NPHET as part of the review of the Ferguson report. Those of us who are members of the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Transport and Communications...
