Lucinda Creighton: I am pleased to have the opportunity to speak on this important Bill amending the European Financial Stability Facility and the Euro Area Loan Facility. As the House knows, the Bill effectively facilitates the implementation of the agreement of eurozone Heads of Government last July. It is extremely important both to Ireland and to the eurozone, as we have seen in recent days and weeks, and...

Lucinda Creighton: -----there now is almost unanimous positive editorial comment on the progress this small island has made in just six months. It would be big of Deputy Boyd Barrett to even acknowledge this because the contrast is clear. I do not know whether he read the editorial in the Financial Times on 1 September stating: Ireland has made "considerable progress" in extracting itself from the emergency...
- Nuclear Disarmament Initiative (22 Sep 2011)
Lucinda Creighton: I thank the Deputy for raising this important issue. His timing is excellent. Disarmament and non-proliferation is a priority and the Government is committed to seeking further progress in this area in the coming year. Lucinda Creighton: Deputy Pádraig Mac Lochlainn makes a fair point regarding EU banking stress tests. The more comprehensive stress testing of Irish banks has stood up to scrutiny far better than the EU-wide stress tests. No doubt the Minister for Finance, Deputy Michael Noonan, will have something to say about that as time goes on.
- EU Summits: Statements (12 Oct 2011)

Lucinda Creighton: -----and I very much wish to make a final point. Deputy Richard Boyd Barrett said that being the best boy in the class is not serving Ireland's interest and that we should instead behave like the Greeks, for which we will receive our reward.
