In tandem, are we having discussions with the UK to adopt these regulations with the UK on the basis that illegal trade in dogs, in particular, is the biggest market at the moment? Sin ceist amháin.

Joe Flaherty: Yes, but Ireland has not entered formal discussions with the UK on adopting similar regulations, although they will not be EU regulations, to what is in place for the Windsor Framework.

Dog welfare falls between two Departments: the Department of agriculture and the other Department. What is the rationale for that, or how did it end up that way? Should there not be just the one Department looking after animal welfare?
