Paul Kehoe: Question 487: To ask the Minister for Education and Science if her attention has been drawn to the fact that the number of children being affected by the enrolment policy in a school (details supplied) in County Wexford over the next four years is only 24; her views on whether this small figure is not going to impact negatively on the pupils already attending the school but will impact...

- Employees (Provision of Information and Consultation) Bill 2005 [Seanad]: Second Stage (Resumed). (29 Nov 2005)
Paul Kehoe: I am grateful for the opportunity to speak on this Bill which is very relevant to current events in the working world. Many industrial disputes have occurred because of lack of communication within the workplace. The importance of communication in any workplace or business is often overlooked and especially if industrial disputes arise. If the right mechanics of communication are put in...
- Employees (Provision of Information and Consultation) Bill 2005 [Seanad]: Second Stage (Resumed). (29 Nov 2005)
Paul Kehoe: I do not see too many jobs coming to Wexford. I could bring the Minister of State, Deputy Killeen, to many places in Wexford for which we are seeking jobs. There is nothing as bad as 60, 70, 200, 300 or whatever number of employees being brought into their workplace and told that the company is closing down in one, two or three weeks. These employees would have given so much to that company...
- Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31: Irish Ferries Dispute. (29 Nov 2005)
Paul Kehoe: The Irish Ferries fiasco has caused serious unrest in County Wexford. Most people recognise that the Government has not been proactive on this issue. These problems have beencontinuing for the past 12 months. I do not accept that the Government's hands are collectively tied on the re-flagging issue. I am shocked at the behaviour of the company in smuggling security men on the ships and having...

- School Transport. (22 Nov 2005)
Paul Kehoe: I thank Deputy Howlin for sharing time. I am disappointed the Minister for Education and Science is not present to take this Adjournment matter. I will spell out what could make a difference in this case. A 52-seater bus put on this route would solve the problem. While the Government wastes millions of euro in each Department, it is unable to put a 52-seater bus on this route. What grieves me...

- Reform of the Competition Act 2002: Motion (Resumed). (16 Nov 2005)
Paul Kehoe: This forced the Government to take our idea and come up with its own agency. Unfortunately, this shows all the signs of being watered down by the Cabinet to a much weaker body than we had envisaged. The party initiated its tax-back campaign to help the ordinary worker get back what is rightfully theirs. The people were getting no help from the Government on this issue. Most of all, we spelt...
- Reform of the Competition Act 2002: Motion (Resumed). (16 Nov 2005)
Paul Kehoe: I am pleased to speak on the motion as it relates to the most vital aspects of people's lives and the manner in which they make a living. One of the first duties of any Government should be to ensure the prosperity of its people. This can only be guarded by keeping a close watch on the cost of living and having clear competition. We have mounting evidence the Government is failing in this...
- Reform of the Competition Act 2002: Motion (Resumed). (16 Nov 2005)
Paul Kehoe: Is the Deputy jealous?
- Housing Policy: Statements (Resumed). (16 Nov 2005)
Paul Kehoe: I intend to share my time with Deputy Deenihan. It is good to have the opportunity to speak on this issue which is, perhaps, the greatest single problem being faced by young adults today in terms of owning their own house. A crisis has been developing since this Administration took office in 1997, which the Government has done its best to ignore, namely, that hundreds of thousands of young...
- Housing Policy: Statements (Resumed). (16 Nov 2005)
Paul Kehoe: The Minister of State may well shrug and ask from where I am getting those figures. However, in any auctioneering firm in north or south Dublin, the average three or four-bedroom house costs â¬350,000 to â¬400,000 at present. A year from now it will cost â¬500,000. If the Minister of State was under 30 years of age, would he be able to get a mortgage of â¬500,000? I do not believe so.
