The Minister speaks of prescribed accountancy bodies yet there is no section in the legislation that gives protection to those same accountants in terms of the use of that title. Dara Calleary: There is no natural home for it but prescribed accountancy bodies in terms of qualifications is referenced throughout the Bill and we need to discuss the notion. The Chairman may want to keep to the sequence in which we are dealing with the Bill but I want to flag it as a major concern.

Dara Calleary: If the Minister of State is referring to the post of company secretary, surely the person should have the qualifications to serve as company secretary, given that he or she will be responsible for compliance with the legislation.
