This requires engagement by the women themselves. Has the Department done anything or can the Department do anything to enable the women to come together and collaborate on what they would like to see?

- Intoxicating Liquor (Amendment) Bill 2017 [Seanad]: Second and Subsequent Stages (25 Jan 2018)
Jim O'Callaghan: I welcome the opportunity to speak to this Bill, which Fianna Fáil will support. I commend the Independent Senators who initiated this legislation, particularly Senator Lawless, who the Minister of State mentioned was instrumental in it being put before the Seanad. - Select Committee on Justice and Equality: Judicial Appointments Commission Bill 2017: Committee Stage (Resumed) (23 Jan 2018)
Jim O'Callaghan: I agree with the Minister and Deputy Wallace that the presidents of the Circuit Court and the District Court should be accommodated but they should not be treated as poor relations. Rather, they should be full members of the commission. The solution for the Minister is to include them by means of an amendment on Report Stage. If he wants to retain his objective of having a lay majority, he...
