- Seanad: Insurance (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 2022: Second Stage (15 Jun 2022)
Fintan Warfield: I welcome the opportunity to speak on this Bill on behalf of my colleague Senator Gavan. The problems in the insurance industry are well known to all of us. My party and others - I am thinking particularly of my party colleague Deputy Doherty - have worked hard over the years to highlight the exceptionally high premiums and the rip-off nature of insurance in this country. His Bill from...
- Seanad: Nithe i dtosach suíonna - Commencement Matters: National Monuments (14 Jun 2022)
Fintan Warfield: I welcome our friends from the United States. They are very welcome. Tomorrow marks Irish AIDS Day created to raise awareness of HIV and the resulting AIDS epidemic. Since the beginning of the epidemic more than 70 million people have acquired the infection and about 35 million people have died. Today around 37 million worldwide live with HIV, of whom 22 million people are on treatment....
- Seanad: Nithe i dtosach suíonna - Commencement Matters: National Monuments (14 Jun 2022)
Fintan Warfield: I appreciate the Minister of State's statement. As some of it was not included in the initial announcement, I will further analyse that. I will need to write to the Taoiseach and the OPW. I find it a bit unusual there is not a public consultation process but the statement indicated the committee will be engaging in that work. Ultimately, I want to know what the legacy of the project will...

Fintan Warfield: I move amendment No. 41: In page 18, between lines 3 and 4, to insert the following: “9.A relevant body shall on an application by a relevant person who has reached the age of 16 years supply to that person all personal data relating to the relevant person.”.
- Seanad: Birth Information and Tracing Bill 2022: Committee Stage (Resumed) (1 Jun 2022)
Fintan Warfield: I appreciate the expertise of committee members and of Senator Seery Kearney in this area. I do not have much more to add to what Senators Ruane and Moynihan have said already except to say that Sinn Féin supports their amendments. We oppose this section outright and may do so at the end of this discussion if those amendments are not accepted. I want to acknowledge that the Minister...
- Seanad: National Maternity Hospital and Women's Health Action Plan: Statements (1 Jun 2022)
Fintan Warfield: I welcome the Minister to the House and I commend him on the publication of the women's health action plan. I wish to raise two issues. The first is the issue of free contraception for women aged 17 to 25. The Government has repeatedly said that programme will commence in August and I want to ask about that. We are just a couple of months out from that roll-out and I hope the Minister...
- Joint Committee on Tourism, Culture, Arts, Sport And Media: Departmental Priorities and Legislation: Discussion (1 Jun 2022)
Fintan Warfield: I welcome the Minister and her officials to the committee and I commend her on for the €25 million basic income pilot, which would be a game changer in the arts. There are concerns in the community about what some call a de facto exclusion of artists with disabilities insofar as the scheme may put someone at risk of having their other supports cut. Can the Minister make some...
- Joint Committee on Tourism, Culture, Arts, Sport And Media: Departmental Priorities and Legislation: Discussion (1 Jun 2022)
Fintan Warfield: Would the Minister consider in her budget allocations a specific ring-fenced allocation to RTÉ for the development of the RTÉ Player?
- Joint Committee on Tourism, Culture, Arts, Sport And Media: Departmental Priorities and Legislation: Discussion (1 Jun 2022)
Fintan Warfield: I believe so. We have given RTÉ lump sums or allocations before. It is a shame to see money going into productions like "Normal People" or RTÉ productions and for them to be poorly delivered online.
