- Select Committee on Children and Youth Affairs: Supplementary Estimates for the Public Services 2019
Vote 40 - Children and Youth Affairs (3 Dec 2019) Anne Rabbitte: My questions are not dissimilar to those asked by Deputy Sherlock. I take umbrage at the word "average". I am trying to work out the cost of having a child in a Tusla service compared to having one in a private residential service. As far as I am concerned, "average" is too broad a term. I am trying to ascertain which provides the best value. I accept the Minister is going to provide us...
- Select Committee on Children and Youth Affairs: Supplementary Estimates for the Public Services 2019
Vote 40 - Children and Youth Affairs (3 Dec 2019) Anne Rabbitte: It is also a question of capacity and whether we are using our centres to full capacity. I accept there are costs attached to running a centre but only one child might use it when there is capacity for three children and the costs might be as much for one child as for three children. Are Tusla centres being used to their full capacity before we outsource to the private provider?

- Ceisteanna ar Reachtaíocht a Gealladh - Questions on Promised Legislation (27 Nov 2019)
Anne Rabbitte: I will keep it short and to the point. On the floor of the House yesterday, the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine gave his statement. Since then, what really happened unfolded on "Today with Sean O'Rourke". Perhaps the Minister for Justice and Equality can answer this question and can clarify why Meat Industry Ireland is above the law. Why does it dictate to farmers of this...

- Saincheisteanna Tráthúla - Topical Issue Debate: Direct Provision System (26 Nov 2019)
Anne Rabbitte: To continue on from where my colleague left off, it seems there is no collaboration on this Topical Issue matter, even in terms of trying to get it organised here this evening. That has played out in terms of what has happened in Monaghan. We are an open nation, and we are welcoming, but we have to lead from the top. We need to ensure that all Departments are working together and that...
- Saincheisteanna Tráthúla - Topical Issue Debate: Direct Provision System (26 Nov 2019)
Anne Rabbitte: Nearly 2,000 children are in direct provision at the moment. It is regrettable that 30 of those children are failing to access education in Monaghan. I wonder if this problem has arisen because they are housed in temporary accommodation. Is that the problem behind it? If so, is there a way that the Departments of Justice and Equality and Education and Skills can ensure that, when we are...
