Select Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade, and Defence: Control of Economic Activity (Occupied Territories) Bill 2018: Discussion (5 Nov 2024)

Matt Carthy: I had hoped there would be something in the Tánaiste's opening statement today that would in some way justify what I believe is, in the highest order, an unacceptable decision by his Government to further delay and frustrate the passage of the occupied territories Bill. Matt Carthy: We are making progress on the number of missions, which is welcome, but not on their staffing. They remain very lightly staffed in comparison with missions of similar sized states in similar countries. Many of us would have had reason to contact various embassies.
