- Committee on Budgetary Oversight: Revaluation of Local Property Tax and Commercial Stamp Duty: Revenue Commissioners (12 Dec 2017)
Dara Calleary: I welcome the delegation and thank them for their ongoing work. What level of engagement has the Revenue Commissioners had with the Department of Finance on LPT since 2015? Was engagement parked subsequent to the Government decision not to proceed with the revaluation? Mr. Walsh said that very few 2015 valuations would be affected by increases. We are in 2017 now and we have new figures...
- Committee on Budgetary Oversight: Revaluation of Local Property Tax and Commercial Stamp Duty: Revenue Commissioners (12 Dec 2017)
Dara Calleary: Price rises of 26% would have a relatively small impact. What level of increase would flip that and result in the majority moving into a different band?

Dara Calleary: How many houses are in that situation?
- Committee on Budgetary Oversight: Revaluation of Local Property Tax and Commercial Stamp Duty: Revenue Commissioners (12 Dec 2017)
Dara Calleary: On the same issue, the commentary was not just confined to commercial or property interests. The IFAC is cautious about it. Again it suggested the policy decision was based on activity in 2016 and early 2017. The concern is not confined only to people who may have a horse in the race.

- Public Services Pay and Pensions Bill 2017: Committee Stage (Resumed) and Remaining Stages (7 Dec 2017)
Dara Calleary: There is irony in it being deemed not relevant to the provisions of the Bill when it is seeking a report on the difficulties in filling vacancies within the civil and public service, but I will leave that to the Leas-Cheann Comhairle's judgment. The Minister might clarify issues surrounding the application of this agreement to members of An Garda Síochána. Will they get the...
- Public Services Pay and Pensions Bill 2017: Committee Stage (Resumed) and Remaining Stages (7 Dec 2017)
Dara Calleary: It is important to acknowledge that for many public servants, allowances form a large part of their pay. Although the amendment refers to allowances for nurses and midwives which were the subject of a Labour Court hearing, the measure also applies to teachers and principals. It is welcome that work is under way, in view of which I will withdraw the amendment.

- Public Services Pay and Pensions Bill 2017: Committee Stage (Resumed) and Remaining Stages (7 Dec 2017)
Dara Calleary: The key issue driving the opposition is the area of equalisation. While the original legislation does not contain anything about the matter, our amendment has ensured there will be Oireachtas involvement in getting a progress report on it. I am not comfortable with this section because I do not think industrial relations strategy should be in legislation. However, in view of the process we...
- Committee on Budgetary Oversight: Fiscal Assessment Report: Irish Fiscal Advisory Council (6 Dec 2017)
Dara Calleary: I welcome the team from IFAC. To return to the Brexit scenario the Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union, Mr. David Davis, told the British Parliament this morning that Brexit would provoke a paradigm change in the United Kingdom economy similar to the crash of 2008. If that is true, would it fit into the advisory council's forecast or would the consequences be more excessive...
