Mark Daly: Is that a defence from the Government side for manipulating waiting lists?
- Seanad: Order of Business (Resumed) (7 Oct 2014)
Mark Daly: Is that the best the Senator can do to defend manipulating waiting lists?
- Seanad: Order of Business (7 Oct 2014)
Mark Daly: Did the Senator vote for him?
- Seanad: Order of Business (7 Oct 2014)
Mark Daly: Would he be able to explain how he had appointed so many people to jobs on his own State boards without advertising them? There were 14 appointments and no advertisements.
- Seanad: Order of Business (7 Oct 2014)
Mark Daly: The Taoiseach has lost the trust of the people. In 2011 he stated that he wanted a sense of trust to be brought back to Irish politics. As can clearly be seen, he has failed the people in this regard. The process relating to the Seanad by-election was nothing other than cronyism of monumental proportions. There has also been a shocking failure regarding Irish Water. The former Minister...
- Seanad: Order of Business (7 Oct 2014)
Mark Daly: I request that the Leader organise a debate on the fact that the Taoiseach has made a mockery of his claim that he would bring democratic revolution to both this House and the country in general.
- Seanad: Order of Business (7 Oct 2014)
Mark Daly: Ministers will still have the final say, so what is proposed will not make any difference.
- Seanad: Order of Business (7 Oct 2014)
Mark Daly: Saying that we were worse is not much of a defence.
- Seanad: Order of Business (7 Oct 2014)
Mark Daly: I think Mr. McNulty would disagree entirely with what is being said.
- Seanad: Adjournment Matters: Broadband Service Provision (1 Oct 2014)
Mark Daly: I thank the Minister of State for the reply. My concern is that customers will not see a change in the level of service or speeds provided by 3. Reports from many areas indicate that speeds have been reduced, and if such speeds remain, that will not be helpful. The concern here is that 3 has said it will not improve the level of service or speeds. I understand the Government proposes to...
- Seanad: Adjournment Matters: Broadband Service Provision (1 Oct 2014)
Mark Daly: I am quite happy with that result.
- Seanad: Adjournment Matters: Broadband Service Provision (1 Oct 2014)
Mark Daly: I welcome the Minister of State to the House and thank him for taking the question on broadband provision nationwide and in Kerry. He is well aware of the difficulties in rural areas regarding broadband. I am sure he is aware of the fact that 30% of trade is now done over the Internet yet only 10% of Irish companies seem to have a presence and an ability to sell over the Internet. A large...
- Seanad: Matters on the Adjournment: Fire Service (30 Sep 2014)
Mark Daly: I welcome the Minister to the House. The matter I raise is directed to his colleague in the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government, Deputy Kelly. It relates to the fire service nationally and the changes that have occurred, specifically the concerns of members of the fire service in County Kerry. The view is that the changes put members of the fire crew at risk.
- Seanad: Matters on the Adjournment: Fire Service (30 Sep 2014)
Mark Daly: I thank the Minister for the comprehensive reply. I wish to raise a point of clarification. I accept the matter does not relate to the ministerial responsibility of the Minister, Deputy Varadkar. Is it the case that the final say on the proposals rests with local authorities and their members or will the county manager or CEO have the final say on the adoption of the new proposals?
- Seanad: Matters on the Adjournment: Fire Service (30 Sep 2014)
Mark Daly: I thank the Minister.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade: Situation in Gaza - Middle East Peace Process: Palestinian and Israeli Ambassadors (3 Sep 2014)
Mark Daly: First, I congratulate the Israeli ambassador on the award. However, as I said to the Palestinian ambassador, we do not expect anything from dictatorships or terrorist organisations. We do not expect Hamas to be up to the standards of the United Nations and countries which believe in democratic principles. That is why we expect a lot more from Israel. The Israeli ambassador made a number...

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade: Situation in Gaza - Middle East Peace Process: Palestinian and Israeli Ambassadors (3 Sep 2014)
Mark Daly: It was not a question. I am informing the ambassador that the person who gave the coordinates was Mr. John Ging of the United Nations who comes from Ireland. I am amazed that the ambassador said so before the committee. The Israeli ambassador also made a statement-----
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade: Situation in Gaza - Middle East Peace Process: Palestinian and Israeli Ambassadors (3 Sep 2014)
Mark Daly: It is not a Second Stage speech. There were a number of statements made.

Mark Daly: I only wanted to clarify points made.
