Mark Daly: The main proposal was to appoint honorary consulates in Australia as there are in Canada. It will come as no surprise that the question was not answered. This is my warning to the officials. The motion will be down again next week when the Minister is in.

- Seanad: Commencement Matters: Inland Fisheries Ireland (12 Nov 2015)
Mark Daly: I welcome the Minister of State. My question concerns enabling Inland Fisheries Ireland to increase its level of staff. Currently it is being asked to do so out of existing budgets which would mean it would have to have fewer resources in order to take on more staff. I am anxious to hear if there is a proposal whereby it could improve the present level of protection by increasing staff...

Mark Daly: I thank the Minister of State for his comprehensive reply and for taking the time to come to the House. I had a number of queries on this matter. It is curious that, while we were being lambasted for decentralisation, Citywest was chosen as the headquarters for Inland Fisheries Ireland. I am sure County Donegal or County Kerry would have been a more suitable location for a headquarters,...
- Seanad: Order of Business (12 Nov 2015)
Mark Daly: I ask the Leader to organise a debate on the home repossession rate. It has been reported today that 4,500 homes were repossessed in 2015. This is on top of over 7,000 homes that were repossessed. The amazing thing about this is the lack of joined-up thinking in the Government. The banks that own these homes are repossessing them. The banks are owned by the Irish people. We bailed them...
- Seanad: Order of Business (12 Nov 2015)
Mark Daly: That is why we have a homeless crisis. The Government, which owns NAMA which is Senator Coghlan's favourite organisation, is selling and approving the sale of houses on the instructions of receivers. They are being sold on the public market. They are being purchased not by the Government to relieve the housing crisis but by private investors. That is the epitome of a lack of joined-up...

- Seanad: Commencement Matters: Electronic Tagging (5 Nov 2015)
Mark Daly: I thank the Minister of State for coming to the House to discuss this issue. This is a topical subject on the tagging of people who are out on bail and proposals that those on early release from prison, having served some of their sentences, would also be tagged. Much has been made of some of the incidents that have happened recently in rural Ireland, especially in Tipperary. There has...
