- Seanad: Nithe i dtosach suíonna - Commencement Matters: Agriculture Schemes (9 Oct 2024)
Seán Kyne: I thank the Minister of State. That is an increase now, in fact, in the numbers that are required to repay. The number of those in an overpayment situation is now up to 8,673. There would obviously be a number of those in Galway within significant areas of commonage, special areas of conservation, SACs, and natural heritage areas, NHAs. Therefore, we would have been under the co-operation...

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health: National Children’s Hospital: Discussion (9 Oct 2024)
Seán Kyne: I welcome the Minister and witnesses. Having visited the hospital site on two occasions, no doubt it is an impressive building and it will be a world-class facility. It will be something we can be rightly proud of when it is concluded and workers are off-site and we have it fully staffed and operational. We all hope we will never have to visit there, attend there or see somebody there but...

Seán Kyne: Was it not suggested at board level before this? Was exasperation expressed about the moving out of the deadline 14 times? Was exasperation expressed to the board and a suggestion that this needed to go higher than the board?

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health: National Children’s Hospital: Discussion (9 Oct 2024)
Seán Kyne: If BAM is subcontracting out then presumably the subcontractors would be able to provide the staff to ensure the delivery of the project. I know the issue of the grilles was discussed earlier on. I was surprised that 94% of the project has been completed, going on the figures Mr. Gunning gave two weeks ago. However, at the same time, none of the rooms are at a level to be signed off on....

- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health: National Children’s Hospital: Discussion (9 Oct 2024)
Seán Kyne: Yes, but the initial offering should have raised red flags. It would have allowed the board to say these rooms were not up to standard and direct the company to not offer any more rooms for inspection until the issues were sorted out.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health: National Children’s Hospital: Discussion (9 Oct 2024)
Seán Kyne: If the issues had been noticed earlier, that would have pre-empted these delays, I would assume.
