Danny Healy-Rae: We never heard from the Minister.
- Offences against the State (Amendment) Act 1998 and Criminal Justice (Amendment) Act 2009: Motions (13 Jun 2018)
Danny Healy-Rae: For my part, I will be supporting the continuation of the Special Criminal Court to deal with offences in the same way as it has been dealing with serious offences since 1998. In recent times, there has been a high level of serious crime and large quantities of drugs have been found. Murders are being committed throughout the country almost on a daily basis. The villains who are...
- Housing: Motion [Private Members] (13 Jun 2018)
Danny Healy-Rae: I am pleased to have the opportunity to speak on housing again in the Chamber. I raised the matter of rural cottages and demountable homes with the Taoiseach over a week ago and the man had not a clue what I was talking about. I do not blame him. He is from Dublin and does not know what is happening or is needed in rural Ireland. Rural cottages have been a way of life in rural Ireland...
- Questions on Promised Legislation (13 Jun 2018)
Danny Healy-Rae: It is Government policy that historical housing estates be taken into the charge of local authorities. It has now come to light that Irish Water has to agree to each application for taking an estate in charge. However, where there are communal septic tanks, neither Irish Water nor the local authority will take the estate into its charge.
- Questions on Promised Legislation (13 Jun 2018)
Danny Healy-Rae: It is Government policy that historical housing estates are taken into charge. I want the Minister to address the issue and to intervene in what is happening here because neither Irish Water nor the local authorities will commit to taking these estates into charge.

Danny Healy-Rae: This leaves many people and residents in a desperate state.

Danny Healy-Rae: I thank the Minister very much.
- Order of Business (12 Jun 2018)
Danny Healy-Rae: A week ago this evening, in Cahersiveen, more than 500 people attended a meeting on the same issue, looking for their Garda station to be manned and open 24 hours a day and looking for more gardaí to address anti-social behaviour, which recently culminated in a murder in their town. The Taoiseach said in the programme for Government that he would open six new Garda stations. I am...
- Order of Business (12 Jun 2018)
Danny Healy-Rae: I do not believe this. It was Deputy Howlin who did away with it.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on European Union Affairs: Multi-Annual Financial Framework after 2020: European Commission (12 Jun 2018)
Danny Healy-Rae: I thank Ms Brown for attending this Oireachtas meeting and for being informative. In the part of Ireland I represent, small farmers and part-time farmers must be protected. There would be no life to be had in very rural regions if farmers were not compensated or given funding. They have depended on the funding they have received over the years from the EU. I certainly hope their support...
- Written Answers — Department of Public Expenditure and Reform: Public Procurement Contracts (12 Jun 2018)
Danny Healy-Rae: 260. To ask the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform his views on whether the inflexibility of State contracts in the face of substantial increases in input costs means construction companies may now be forced out of business or to abandon ongoing public sector projects. [24774/18]
- Written Answers — Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport: Driver Licences (12 Jun 2018)
Danny Healy-Rae: 1075. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if the NDLS is allowed to reissue a driver licence to the address that is on file for that person in the case of a driver licence that is still in date but has been lost; if the case of a person (details supplied) will be addressed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24771/18]
- Questions on Promised Legislation (30 May 2018)
Danny Healy-Rae: The Taoiseach and the Government have been advocating that Irish emigrants should return home to complement the workforce. However, many cannot start work once they return home because, for example, they have fallen sick before finding employment. They are being denied the jobseeker's allowance, carer's allowance and the disability allowance. Even though they have spent the majority of...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Rural Bus Services: Discussion (30 May 2018)
Danny Healy-Rae: The Minister thinks he is from rural Ireland.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Rural Bus Services: Discussion (30 May 2018)
Danny Healy-Rae: The Minister is being dishonest. He is now trying to say the extra Rural Link runs have nothing to do with the road traffic legislation he is trying to push through the Dáil, which will isolate so many in rural areas. Both Minister and Deputy Heydon stood up in the Dáil and said the initiative was to counteract rural isolation. This was a reactionary attempt by them when we...
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Rural Bus Services: Discussion (30 May 2018)
Danny Healy-Rae: It is not mine. I have to start again now. One of the services in Kerry that the Government made such a hullabaloo about was to take people from Castlegregory to Cloghane to a card game one Tuesday in the month for ten months. Clearly, this is not any part of the pilot scheme because the Minister is saying the pilot scheme is for six months. The initiative I am referring to is for ten...

Danny Healy-Rae: I have never interrupted the Senator or any other member.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Rural Bus Services: Discussion (30 May 2018)
Danny Healy-Rae: If the Minister thinks this measure will satisfy rural proofing and that it will satisfy the people the he is about to isolate forever, it will not.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Rural Bus Services: Discussion (30 May 2018)
Danny Healy-Rae: I have to respond to a couple of points. The Minister rang me at 8.30 on the morning he was coming to Kerry.
- Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport: Rural Bus Services: Discussion (30 May 2018)
Danny Healy-Rae: The Minister was coming in to Castleisland when he rang me. I cannot jump like that just because the Minister cocks his finger and says "I am here in Kerry, come on." That was the first I knew about it.
