Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport: Issues Facing the Road Haulage Industry: Irish Road Haulage Association (2 Jul 2025)

Pa Daly: Are there any specific changes the IRHA would like to see? There seems to be a turnaround time of about 12 months. Are there any specific issues with bringing in non-EU drivers? I know a lot of them come in from South Africa. Is there anything specific that the IRHA would like to see?

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport: Issues Facing the Road Haulage Industry: Irish Road Haulage Association (2 Jul 2025)

Pa Daly: I have just one final question on the HGV levy. The IRHA accepts that the levy is a UK Government requirement. Does it also accept that it is a reserved power, as Mr. Hyland said, and is imposed by the UK Government. I understand that the IRHA has had meetings with Ms Liz Kimmins, the Minister in Northern Ireland with responsibility in this area, and is probably aware that she has...

Review of Education for Persons with Special Educational Needs Act 2004: Statements (1 Jul 2025)

Pa Daly: This is one of the most frustrating issues I am dealing with in County Kerry. It is clear that too many children are being denied their right to education. Parents are contacting me about this issue, including, recently, one parent who has been involved in education for 20 years. Her other children have gone through the system. It is with her youngest child that she has faced the system...

An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (1 Jul 2025)

Pa Daly: Jordan Devlin is an Irish citizen. He is one of the Filton 18. He has been held on remand in Wormwood Scrubs since August 2024 on charges, among others, of criminal damage and violent disorder. The charges relate to dismantling weapons, including a quadcopter drone which is used in the relentless attacks on Gaza.

An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (1 Jul 2025)

Pa Daly: I am coming to the question.

Pa Daly: He is being held on remand at the moment in Wormwood Scrubs.

An tOrd Gnó - Order of Business (1 Jul 2025)

Pa Daly: The trial is not until later in the year. I am asking the Minister to take up this case with the British Government because Mr. Devlin is being held on charges which are not counter-terrorism charges, even though that is the method being used to keep him on remand. He and some of his co-accused will be in jail until next year. I ask the Minister to take up this case as urgently as possible...

Legislative and Structural Reforms to Accelerate Housing Delivery: Motion [Private Members] (25 Jun 2025)

Pa Daly: Daft's latest report says the average rent in County Kerry is up between 13.2% and 31.7% depending on the type of property compared with this time last year. We can go back to 2011 when the Government, in effect, stopped building social housing, through to the abolition of the town...
