Brian Stanley: I am happy enough with that answer. I realise the witnesses are anxious to answer, for which I thank them, but there are a couple of other areas in the Bill I want to refer to. We have thrashed out at length the idea of deployment as part of a regional force with witnesses both for and against it. It is clear it is provided for within the proposed Bill. Where 100 or 200 Irish troops are...

- Committee on Defence and National Security: General Scheme of the Defence (Amendment) Bill 2025: Discussion (Resumed) (10 Jul 2025)
Brian Stanley: Could I have a yes-no answer to one more question? Has the restriction whereby only 12 members of the Defence Forces may be deployed overseas without the approval of the Dáil inhibited or stopped a rescue mission or similar type of mission? I do not have any great problem with the proposal to increase the number to 50 or fewer. What is the number required? A platoon is 32 or 33.

- Planning and Development (Amendment) Bill 2025: Second Stage (8 Jul 2025)
Brian Stanley: I welcome the opportunity to speak on this Bill. By and large, the Bill is necessary. Some would say there is a magic wand for solving the housing crisis. Brian Stanley: I also welcome the visitors in the Gallery. The HSE has stated that the assessments of need for 15,292 children are overdue, meaning they have gone past the legal timeframe of six months.
