Dear joan,

I would urge you to consider the eligiblity of people who can join the internships.
All junior and work experience jobs - well the majority of them now go through job-bridge and internships. my husband is self employed and has recently completed an IT certification. He has been offered internships but cannot apply as he isnt on the dole or doesnt get jobsseekers etc. He receives no benefit when hes not working and pays more than his fair share and he pays tax on all profit and doesnt get the benefit of a paye tax credit.

He has tried getting full time jobs, but he is lacking work experience in IT, so he has applied for part time work experience but has a hard time getting some as most companies take on interns these days.

He was told if he shut his business and applied for dole and was on it for a few months he could re apply then??? THis is sad, he just wants to get work experience in ordre to get a full time job down the line and get back in the paye sector as self employed is still too unstable.

Can you bring something in or adjust some part of your work experience programmes so people like this can be included or catered for. We want nothing for nothing, we dont even want the €50 the interns get or the dole, we just want to be able to apply for the internships.

Sounds fair!

Kind Regards

Maria
