I have just read the Minister comments that there is no funding to train Level 6 Major Pre School Teachers to level 7 or 8. Has the Minister any idea how much it costs to obtain this additional level. As a trained Montessori Teacher my qualifications to date have cost me €5k (funded by by redundancy payment). To up grade which I would love to do as all the jobs now advertised are level 7 and 8 due to the business units getting the higher capitation, nothing to do with quality. The 4 year degree course which I will only have to complete 3 is a total of €3k per year - so another €9k and I dont even get paid €8k. I would like to know what is the plan going forward at this point it would appear it is made up as it goes along.
